I don't know exactly how many there are, but they are very rare in UK - certainly less than 20.

I know of 5 13b's and 3 20b's, mainly through ones that pop up for sale on the internet. Most of them seem to be ending up in Australia.

Cheers Tim,

less than 20, sounds much in comare to the rest of EU. There is a discussion on Japanese Cosmo forum about how many cars are left. Cosmo is very seldom in the world! Thay are less than 3000 Cars left (in the hole world). Our cars are more seldom as Ferraris or Lambos......

Was you successfull at DMRH for Cosmo manual, or any technical documentation?

Hi Iwan,

David Morris is very helpful if you have any specific questions, Unfortunately as Cosmo was never officially sold outside Japan, all manuals are in Japanese.

I do have a Japanese Owners Manual & I have managed to work a few things out but other than that we're pretty much on our own.

My local Mazda dealer has said he is happy to service the car & he can source service parts (oil & air filters & spark plugs) so If you have a mazda dealer locally maybe they could help you with the routine maintenance.

Only 3000 left out of 8500 built, thats not a good survival rate.

So preservation is the name of the game, better look after it & stop chucking it round racing circuits

:( :( :(

See why Dave Morris gets so annoyed with people putting 20B's in other cars...

Yeah, I can.

I've had this argument before with other car clubs where all the original cars get pulled to bits until none are left. If you think the Cosmo is bad, Pity the Vauxhall Magnum Sportshatch, 197 built - less than 10 left, cos boy racers ripped them to bits for the 2.3 engine or destroyed them banger racing.. By the time anyone realizes it's too late. Dont let it happen to the Cosmo guys.

Dave Morris would have a better idea than me, but I think that there would be 50 20b's in Aus after all Dave's efforts!

Mine is a 20b and I would love to show u but I can never work out how to add a picture to these sites!

Any way she is a japanese princess spoilt rotten - and she has V8 fords and holdens (GM) for breakfast all the time.

Hi guys, aftera long absence from Glens Forum. I am back

Statistically, I can tell you that DMRH had a license to compliance 25 cars per year.

We got our license in early 00 & began trading in Aug/Sep of that year. The Fed Gov changed the rules again in 03 putting 90% of the industry out of business (including us). In our 4 years of "official" operation, we did around 75 JC Cosmo's (13B + 20B). No more Cosmo's can come in as there are no longer any license holders

Another Cosmo license holder interstate did around 20 compliance jobs & in 03, some extra license holders came on-line for a brief period. Investigation has found those guys did less than 10 cars each.

Overall, I suspect there are around 120-130 JC Cosmo's in Australia.

DMRH would have done most of the 13B versions so I suspect at least 20+ where 13B's with the remainder being 20B versions.

Note: I know of just 5 series-II versions imported here so far.

I also have a JC Cosmo register going on the DMRH web site (http://www.dmrh.com.au)

Thanks to Tim Burgess for sending through the details of his machine. Any other Cosmo owners are encouraged to also send their details so we can work at logging & preserving this endangered species.
