Hello people i have a problem with my rex wonder if any of you can help. the other day i pulled my baby out of the garage for the first time in about 6 months to give it a wash it seemed to be running fine but after about 20 mins of running while it was just sitting it started to miss (as if only running on 3 pots if it was a cylinder engine) i revved it up a couple of times and this seemed to sort it but then after about another 5-10 mins it started again but this time revving it did nothing. so after this i turned it off not wanting to do any further damage.
i then went to start it up again after about half an hour and it just ran the same. by the way the temp was fine and oil pressure was fine too. but i noticed that the inside of the exhaust was white (started to worry big time)

I then went to start it a day later and it just turns and turns and wont quite catch.

Could this be flooded do you think or is it rebuild time. The white exhaust thing is really worrying me any help. I really hope its not rebuild time as it will not see the road at all this year. Because i dont think i have the spare rebuild money.

Sounds to me that you have run the car on tick over and it has simply chocked itself up, you should have driven it. Its probaly now oiled and will need a good run to clear her out.

Its best to give it a good blast if its been sitting for a while, i have mine stored in the garage but every couple of weeks i take it for a day or two just to keep everything ok, giving it a good blast will help clear carbon build up to as i think im right in saying to much carbon build up can cause detonation. And as gary says it will clear out the unburnt oil..

This going to sound as if i know nothing about cars, lol, but i have just been out to the rex and can find the plugs what do i have to remove to get at or see them or do i have to put the beast up on the jack and get at them. If this is the case are they easy enough to get at this way sorry for being a pain i should have found this out by now but i have never had any bother with it in nearly two years of owning it.

plugs are on the passenger side of the engine, you can reach them from the top but its difficultfor some people, i can change them from the top but i have removed my aircon so it makes it easier..alternatively you can jack the car up remove the undertray and get them from there. No offence but please remember to remove one at a time or make sure you know which lead goes to where or you could get them mixed up!

good luck mate

Chez, take a look at this pic and you'll see where they are, the other two are just next to those, you'll probably have an aircon and powersteering pump in the way but as you can see from the pic if you remove the elbow and reach down you can undo them, unless you have stumpy arms, in which case remove the undertray and manage it from below.
