I am trying to put together a group buy on a couple of products, and I think it would be handy to have a dedicated forum for these sorts of things.

Maybe this could be linked in to companies that want to do monthly specials, clearance lines and stuff like that.

What do you think? I am not saying lets get a load of suppliers to sell their wears, but ones that are willing to do minimum quantity ort of things.

If I set-up a "Group Buy" forum, we could see how many people are interested in a certain product? i.e. Each set of products could have their own Thread?

Sounds like a good idea.

Do you want to look after it all? i.e. organising the actual purchase etc.? I suppose we will have to see the interest it generates also to get some companies on board.

Things like:

Oil
Spark Plugs
Leads
Tyres etc.?

It is almost like we would be setting up a Discount Forum - just need the companies to provide the discount :)

Glenn, I would be happy to try and arrange say one group buy every one or two months.

But I think this would have to be only for UK residents, as I am sure that products like oil, plugs, plug leads, etc. could be bought cheaper locally than via the group buy, unless they have enough in their country to organise themselves.

I think the only time that a group buy may work is for the bigger items like turbo kits, bush kits and brake kits.

With dealings from my boinger, I have contacts within a few companies that offer aftermarket Jap performance products. Ranging from oil and plugs to intercooler kits and turbo kits.

They cover HKS products, Defi gauges, ERL (Aquamist) and SPA gauges just for starters, and then I can try and work on the other companies that currently don’t offer anything like this, but that are Rotary biased.

its actually a very very good idea

i was thinking of something similar a while ago - i was going to try and get 'x' company to make me some alloy kick plate protectors for the 2ng gen rx7

now i can see these being quite expensive as a one off - but on the other hand if i could get say 10 people to say yes then it could be very feasable !
