Hi
Does anyone have a solution for improving the brakes at the back of the 3rd gen and also keep the handbrake. I am getting at bigger discs and calipers. I have heard that there is a Brembo kit with handbrake facility and an M2 kit. Anyone heard anything about either? I have something in mind for the front and want to balance things up.
Thanks

I am thinking the same thing.
I should have my new front upgrade being fitted tomorrow, after much waiting and work. Pictures to follow.
But I *WILL* have to do something for the rear. :confused
Yes there are kits to change the rear calipers to 4 pots, but loosing the handbrake function. MOT failure straight away. :(
I have not heard of any brembo calipers with a handbrake function, I will look in to this over the weekend. Again the same goes for the MR2 setup.
My option was going to be using a spot caliper with some 4 pots.

I have had a company trying to sell me a 'Brembo rear conversion with handbrake provision'. Not sure I trust them and Brembo don't email back to confirm if it exists.
Will a mech to hydraulic converter in the system pass the MOT?
What handbrake mech does the R33 skyline have at the back? It may be possible to convert something. There is a company working on a kit using the Wilwood NDL calipers and I think spot calipers too. Its not ready yet.

Sorry for the delay. I had a look through a CD of all the Brembo calipers, inc. the motorsport stuff.
They did not list any with the handbrake mech. in it.
The way they get around it is to have a drum brake in the rear disc. Subaru and Ferrari (two cars I had access to yest.) use this, not sure how the skylines do it, but would go on the same setup.
I have been told that the old 1.9 Pugeot GTI had a caliper that could be used, I will have a look when I see one about.
As for the mech. to hydraulic conversion, I dont think this would pass and MOT, but would need to confirm with an MOT station.
I have nothing against Willwood calipers, as the new ones look really good. But I would rather have something that matches the front calipers! What have you upgraded to?

Hi
I have Porsche 993tt calipers for the front and Porsche discs as per the www.Movit.de kits. Mine is self sourced.
The problem is a quite narrow fitment at the rear as well as having a handbrake.
I looked at the set up at the back of a Ferarri 360. The disc is huge and has a 4 pot caliper and a spot caliper on it. Maybe that's the way forward but the ferarri effort would be too big and heavy. I wanted the matching Porsche rear 4 pots but they are massive. I just can't imagine the pug effort being up to the job.

I've seen quite a few kit cars using wilwood spot calipers for the the rear brakes.

the pug 1.9 gti has a built in handbrake mechanism, so unless you plan to use the whole caliper its not much good.
You can't use a hydraulic handbrake without having a mechanical backup

It might be worth having a look at Max Coopers (http://www.maxcooper.com) website.
Very handy site to add to your favorites.

Here's the reason why I need to balance out the rear a bit. The discs are 355*32. :)
