im just getting the insurance sorted so that i can take it out tonight !

i drove it for about 1 mile ( to make sure it worked )

the girlfriends dad drove it back 129 miles and he says it runs sweet

i was trying to chase him at 105 down the M6 !

so yes - i now have a BLACK Turbo II - Yipppppeeeeeeeee !

just a pity i have missed all the track days and such like - but there is always next year

well when you drive it tonight and pull up behind another shiney car look at the reflection, when i drove the black one in aberdeen it looked identical to KITT(knight rider) i think thats why i loved it so much, childhood memories:D

where did you find it?

grinder
6th October 2003, 12:17 PM
when it was being driven home , i was either behind it or infront and looks superb from all angles !

well thats the insurance started form 16:00 tonight !!

where did i find it ?? - well it it appeared on the yahoo rx7 forum thingy on wednesday i think , did the deal over thurs and fri , and picked it up on sat morning from leicester ( excuse spelling ! )

just reading your reply in the insurance thread - 21 yeah thats a bad age - i can remeber getting a quote on a V6 vectra and when i was 24 it was 1800 , i turned 25 and it dropped to 800

i have insured this car as :

1 - classic car
2 - its my second car
3 - limited milage of 3000 per year ( which is fine for weekend use )

thats why its sooo cheap i think

Very nice, make sure you lock it up well. Its identical to my now for spares only car after some :censored::censored::censored::censored: stole it but only got five miles to the first wet roundabout and totalled it. I am now having to rebuild it into a T11 convertable shell, nearly done just engine to sort and its back on the road. This one is also black and is starting to look vry nice, will see you around.( Ps whatch those wet roundabouts they can catch you out ) MARK

i leant all about wet roundabouts in the EGI - very scary at first

im really surprised about the power in these things

was rolling in 3rd gear at 30mph - as i went into a 60 zone at the start of a really steep hill

foot down and away it went - how quickly 80 approched even on a hill !

Looks identical to mine except your engine obviously works:o

grinder
8th October 2003, 09:10 AM
the engine is seems very sweet at this moment in time !!

its got good oil pressure and the temp gauge sits right

the only thing i dont like at this moment intime is the standard boost gauge - its hard to see when driving

you tend not to take your eyes of the road at 7000 RPM in 3rd !!

Sean
8th October 2003, 09:27 AM
Wait till you try 8500 in fifth!!:cool

grinder
8th October 2003, 09:34 AM
will a stock TII put that revs in that gear ??

Sean
8th October 2003, 09:48 AM
Well I got to 150mphish when my mind went a blurr ( could have been the sound barrier, end of clear straight road or the gasseous substance emerging from my pants!), but the motor was screaming!:)

grinder
8th October 2003, 10:24 AM
blimey - thats impressive

in the EGI i got to about 118 - but it felt really unsafe - like the back end wanted to break loose

the TII seems better for speed , but feels very shakey on the back end ( although its had the rear bushes done on it )

gonna try and get it on a rolling road some time in the future to see what she puts out - as every one i ask give me a different figure

all i want to know is it more than 200 BHP ???

Sean
8th October 2003, 10:43 AM
I have the original brochure here. The actuall figure is 197.26bhp 147kw (200ps)/6500rpm

grinder
8th October 2003, 11:10 AM
197 BHP - ooohhhh thats not tooo bad

and a price for the car - errrr i would rather not say just incase i decide to sell it - i dont want people having inside information

i will give you a clue

i paid A LOT LESS than my neighbour did !

the answer is on this forum somewhere !!

and thanks for the congrats !!!
:D

Sean
8th October 2003, 12:24 PM

grinder
8th October 2003, 12:26 PM
and mine was a lot less than £2500 !!! :D

Sean

grinder
