Mate thats a great project. It looks tough as nails and must fly! I am really interested in the water pump as the inlet pipe on my 12a fouls on an engine mount and I am wondering what to do about it.I hope that you are takingthis to RSIII.
cheers, michael.

thanks for the kind words! the wheels have changed now btw...

The pump is straight from the VW breakers. Any VR6 has an auxillery water pump deisgned to continue recirculating water upon engine shutdown. Not so much a 'booster' pump as an electronically controlled shut down one. Im unsure so far whether it works as i desire.......Inline with the mazda mechanical pump coolant pressure seems a little high........I dont see how a centrifugal pump increases coolant pressure as it isnt positive displacement. It may just be because the system isnt bled entirely, i cant tell yet!

Other cars with pumps include some of the 16V renaults....namely a chamade......also the GT turbo is a possibility.

Otherwise demontheives sell booster pumps or individual pumps for between 80-150 quid.

Car looks cool - shame you had to put a hole in the decklid :( Was it a KEP adapter plate you used to hook the motor to the VW transaxle?

Who pinstriped the decklid was it Neil from Prosign?

Anyways keep up the top work and make sure you lay down some good 1/4 times

Yeah that was beyond my control. I am sorting it now though, i have sourced another decklid and will sort it all out when funds allow. Im going to route the induction system through the firewall and up to a window....hope it works!
The pinstriping was doen by pinstriping UK at billing last year.......
I had a guy make an adapter up, heat shrinking the VW starter ring onto the mazda centre.

Sounds cool,

With the decklid/air intake a good idea is to have a lexan window made for one of the passenger rears with a twin naca duct flushed into it, you can pipe this through the rear firewall/boot floor nice and neatly using samco/aluminium tube.

The adapter sounds like a nice bit of work.

Look forward to seeing your bug sometime....

Here's a pic of my old bug....

Nice looking bug you have there mate. Must be very fun to drive now with all the extra power.
I used to have a 69 karmann and always regret selling that come the summer months, driving around with the wind in my hair. Used to to et more looks in that than i do in my rex. :)
I wonder if pinstriping will become popular on the 7s one day ??

Mine was a Karmann Bettle, but yeh, the Ghias are amazing looking and have sometimes thought of selling the rex to get one

bob; yeah i thin it is! lucky i got the removeable valance aint it???
suprisingly easy to get everything tbh.....just the filter to contend with!

i assume ade youve got the issue of do i swap a new car for an older one with rust????
lol

somethings gotta be said for my combo...i loved driving the bug with a standard engine in....but theres something about it now....knowing how much love and work has gone into it.....cruising around, or indeed planting yer foot at the lights....
