I have finally sorted something out to allow me to install my intercooler. And here it is, a dinky battery!

Cor, I like that! Is your car a daily driver or does it ever get stood? Would be interested to find out how long it holds a charge. How much was it if you don't mind me asking?

I don't drive it every day, but i do drive it every week. These batteries are fine, i understand if it gets stood around for long periods, but should be disconnected in those circumstances.

I don't know how long it holds its charge for to be honest - i only got it installed yesterday afternoon!! It cost £80 from merlin motorsport in castle combe, and then a £3 postive cable from halfrauds, and a £3 strip of alluminium from B&Q to cut and use as a strap.

What's the Ah rating of the battery?

Ah = 13

Cranking Current 20ºC for 5 secs to 1.2V/Cell = 545A

I don't know exactly what the requirements are of the RX-7 starter, but those are enough to get it started. It didn't turn the engine over quite as quickly as a standard fat battery, but enough to get the engine going! :D

I used to have one of those batterys in my Nissan, I think after 4 days of inactivity the battery became flat. This depends also on the alarm system you have installed too.

If you have one of these batterys and your car is outside or receives some light, then invest in a solar charger. This plugs into your cigarette lighter socket and trickle charges the battery.

www.tgincar.com sell them. I hope that helps :Thumbs-up

Hey, Pointman, once it went flat could you charge it back up easily enough? As I was told it's a bugger to do, but heard from someone else that they didn't have issues with it!

Hello Nikp:
Never had any problems with re-charging. At one point she sat for a month, dead to the world and still came back no problem.

This time I will go for battery relocation though, as I will have a few electronics installed.

If your car is outside, as in your avatar then to be safe fit a solar-charger, they are only £14.99 and it will save you any hassle of re-charging :yes

Cheers Pointman, much appreciated for the info.

Yup, my car is on the drive, so i will invest in the solar charger. Cheers.
