It's the air feed coming from the air pump. The car the cat came off had probably had its air pump removed. It'll run but the cat won't be working too efficiently. It may also clog and overheat.

Maybe it's the temp sender? Apparently there's a warning light on the dash that comes on if the cat starts to overheat.

I don't think it's essential, I've heard of people disconnecting it and tucking the wire under the heatsheild when they fit a de-cat pipe. I wonder if your cat is clogged? That'd cause it to overheat. Would've thought the light'd be coming on tho.

Won't help your problem but the cat warning light is on the center console next to the ashtray/armrest.

im not decatting it. just replacing the cat with a 2nd hand one. should i just try it? or would the sensor go to the ecu
?

Give it a go I suppose. The warining light might come on but I don't think it upsets the ECU in any way.

so this cable coming from the cat should only go to this light on the dash?? (which i dont seem to have - near the ashtray theres my fog lights and rear screen heater and my BIG BLUE flashy light of Justice in one of the blank dummy switches!!! with the control buttons for the alarm behind that.)

i just dont want to cut through this cable and find my car wont start or run as it might think it has lost the cat (chance would be a fine thing - cant afford to decat at the mo :reallymad )

Definatly a temp probe for the cat!! Don't need it though , it only acts as a visual aid to tell you your cat is fooked!! Had the same thing on my Eunos roadster till it did a back fire from hell and cooked the probe!!!

If there' sno wireing for it, just remove it and put a blanking plate there instead!!

cheers mate, thats the answer i was after !! :cheers

theres fook all on this cat i got 2nd hand, just a lump where the probe WAS and its been welded up.

just wasted a flipping night! HAs anyone ever taken the exhaust off their car!?? and does it go back on as easily as it came off??

Oh Nooooooooooooo the feckin nuts ripped the thread off one of the bolts on the old cat, broke one off and nearly threaded the other! so we had to drill the two fooked ones out and the other wouldnt pull tight enough and we couldnt be arsed to drill the other out so its blowing like a tw@ now aswel as the old cat sounding rough!! bloody mazdas!

people still love it tho! hah, had to drive thru town to get money and the girlies love it! :evillaugh boyfriends not lookin too happy! :Giggle punks!
