My FD gives a horrible shudder when I try and pull off slowly, and it is really horrible if I try and do it while turning at the same time.
Ages ago, I jacked up the car by putting the jack under the diff. I read much later that this can cause the mounting to break. What do you guys think, have I broken it? , and has anyone got pics of what the mounting looks like?
Also, if I jack the car up ( not under the diff this time!), if the mounting is broken, will I be able to move the diff aorund, or whats a way of checking it?

If you've trashed the diff mounts, you'll hear an almighty clattering when you go on and off the throttle while cruising along. The power plant frame will be resting on the aluminium cross braces that span the transmission tunnel. Probably the clutch or flywheel.

Eek I hope not, its a new clutch. Mind you, the engine mountings took a bit of load while I had the gearbox off.
I guess I need to check Engine mounts, Gearbox mounts, then take a look at Power Plant frame, diff mount, and drive shafts, and then go to the rear bushings and toe link bearings!!!! (groan!)

Martin have you checked your tail shaft. It could be the uni joints. I've had similar problems in the past and its been down to worn uni's. Worth a shot.

I said drive shatfs, and you said tail shaft. I think we both mean the rear driveshafts, right? They could could have worn Constant Velocity joints.
Oh, wait you mean the universal joints in the propellor shaft !
