View Full Version : Sourcing/Tuning a 20B in the UK

Hi all.

I need to source a modified 20B engine (no need for ancilaries, not even manifolds, well "maybe" the inlet n throttlebody, but its not even going into a mazda!), i need street ports, etc etc, not too crazy, basicaly a base engine that will be capable of producing 700bhp@Flywheel using a HUGE single turbo running 20or so psi.

I will do EVERYTHING (manifolds, turbo, fuel system, etc etc), i just need to source an engine and get it made to the spec needed.

What do you think my best bet is? Get the entire engine built in Oz or USA and get it shipped over, or are there 20B lumps available over here and GOOD rotary engine builders in the UK who are skilled enough to build me an engine that will hold together (700flywheel bhp from a 20B isnt exactly stressing it, streetported and a T78 running 20psi, with the correct manifold, intercooler and fuel system, should easily produce 600@Wheels, so approx 700fly bhp).

The only rotary builder i know of in the UK are WGT, and looking at their site where they say they can build 20B engines upto 470bhp doesnt exactly inspire confidence, ive been offered NON TURBO 20B lumps that will produce 800@WHEELS from the US and Oz...

The engine build prices are quite reasonable for the spec abroad, and uk tuners traditionaly charge a fortune, the only drawback of a foriegn tuner is paying for the engine to be shipped over, which i guess could be VERY expensive.

What do you reccomend? Any good (and not extrortionate!) rotor tuners in the Uk that can do what im asking?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Stevie
you don't say what you will be using the engine in, it would be useful to know and also what you would be using it for?
The engines from Oz and US that you said are not turbo charged must be running nitrous in order to produce 800 hp, is that so cos even with 4 rotors Mazda were only able to sqeeze 700 hp from a naturally aspirated and very technically complicated induction system.
It is certainly possible to build an engine with this power but in order to do it properly do you have a reasonable budget?
I have a complete 20b which i could modify for you.

if you want to know more then you can email me at rota110sman@yahoo.com

Hi Stevie
wondered if you have found an alternative for your 20b as you have not put up any posts
