Hi guys
Seen a Cosmo for sale, how do I tell from outside the car if its a 20B?
Its going cheap, I doubt I will buy it, but I want to post the details here in case anyone is interested. The exterior and interior look in very good condition, though I havent looked closely.
Its at a garage - I will stop there/call them today and see what I can find out.
They also have a 3rd Gen for sale.

They say 3 rotor on a badge on the side of the car on early ones.

Not sure, but isn't the exhaust system different? Two twin pipes on the 20b and only two single exhausts on the 13b. Could be wrong. Also if it's an ECCS (top of the range) which i think only came as a 20b then it would have the gps thingy on the roof.

Easiest way is pop the bonnet
Ask him to look at the rocker covers or something silly :-0

Sure fire way is the chassis number if it starts JCESE then its a 20b number is stamped on the bulkhead just behind the intake manifold. Other things that give a clue are the stock 20b exhaust has two silencers with twin exits 13b twin silencers single exits, 20b's had ABS as standard optional extra on the 13b (be careful with that one a few paid for it) then the obvious one lift the bonnet.

Here it is...
It is a 13B. Their ad says Mint, but I did see a TINY TINY piece of rust where the roof meets the body, otherwise I would says it is in excellent condition.
I havent had a proper proper look, if anyone is really serious about this car, I will go back and look carefully for you.
I think its a bargain myself, £2k . Anyone want to give me 6.5K for my FD?, then I will go and get that Cosmo ! ( and I can pay 4.5 off my mortgage!)
:-)
Moderators, I am not affiliated to the dealer selling this car, and I have never dealt with them. I do think this is a rare car, and as an enthusiast, I dont want the opportunity passed up by someone on here who might be looking for a clean, cheap Cosmo, so I hope you find my post appropriate.

Can i ask a silly question?.. How many seats does the Cosmo have in the back? is it a proper 5 seater?

Its a two plus two. But a bit like the seven in the back you wouldn't want to be in there for too long if you've a long legged git in the front. Front two seats have lots of room though good headroom and quite a bit wider than a seven. Best bet is probably for you to view one, Carls got one down in Newbury which is probably closest for you. Its just a rolling shell but would give you an idea what there like. If not i'll be down at Brooklands this year which is only a few weeks off now.

Thanks! :Thumbs-up
so its got two sculptured seats in the back rather than a 3 seater bench? like the RX8?
:( Dont the Japs ever have more than two kids?

Trust me you'd never keep the kids sat in one place if it were a bench seat. The front and rear buckets are needed to keep you seated when giving it some. As certainly the sports version can be chucked into corners at high speed for such a large car with no body roll, the kids would be sliding side to side in the back.

Nothing daft about wanting to own a bit of Jap motoring heritage and imho one of the most under rated cars to come from the land of the rising sun.
Maybe impractical but thats part of the fun

Cant disagree with you there
Perhaps not the ideal family 15000 miles a year daily driver though eh?
