Hey everyone,
I am currently running on optimax but I recently added some stp octane booster to the tank as well, does anyone know if this is a good idea to use an octane booster with a high octane fuel or is it just pointless?
I am thinking of going over to Tesco 99 stuff

My understanding is that it is next to pointles to put off the shelf garage octane booster in to Optimax.
It only works to any degree if you put it in 95 ron stuff.
You need to use PROPER octane booster like the Klotz stuff I have bought from Gary ( Rotary Tart ) to obtain a significant effect if you already have Optimax.
I think he told me a pint of the stuff should raise 98 Optimax by about 2 ron or so which is plenty for my car just to take the edge off when doing extended track driving at 7,500 - 8,000 revs ........ or more !
I used 100 octane race fuel on my last track day ........... knock readings maxed at 21.

thanks James, thants what I thought.
I just want to make sure I'm not damaging the car by running on optimax or Tesco 99 because I know they're designed to run on 100RON and I have a standard ECU.

For peace of mind it would be wise to invest in an Apxei PFC or alike. That way you can have it tuned to you cars needs. You might even find you get a little bit more power than now, and still know that your engine is being monitored properly for our fuel :)
