Hello
I sold my Fd about a just over a week ago now. Just had a meesage from the new owner and he has gone and smashed it up in the wet. Im gutted for him he is a nice guy and he loved the car to bits.. Im also very gutted myself as i miss the car to pieces.
He is only 19 and i warned him so much about the car being very back end happy and to be very carfull or it will kill him. The back end stepped out on top of a hill at about 40mph so i can only think how much damage there will be. He wants me to go and have a look to see if it can be fixed so i will get some pics of it.
Hope you guys are all well

Sorry to hear this,
I think sometimes even though the car has gone the essence is still there after you have sold it, when i sold my Escort Cosworth i turned away loads of younger guys as the car was immaculate and didn't want it ending up in the hedge or something.
But just bad luck there Sam, hope you can get it fixed and back on the road sharpish, good luck buddy.

Ouch.
Sorry to hear this Sam - chalk it up to experience and take one lessone from it - never let someone else near you P&J. There's only a few people I'd be happy to let drive mine and they've all got nicer cars I'd hold hostage until mine was back to rights!!!
If you've knackered a wheel then the whole suspension on that corner needs a good look at - I'd be suprised if it's not damages as well. Noses can be picked up quite cheaply. Contact the likes of Dragon who seem to fit a fair few aftermarket ones as they may have a cheap standard nose available.
Wlso, depending on how bad the imact was there may be twisting of the chassis that needs re-jigging.
With a bit of luck and some mechanical skills you might be able to get this lot down to 1500 buthten there's paintwork...

Hey guys well he gave me £1000 cash yesterday and will give me more when he gets payed, i think he feels as bad as me to be honest.
We always drive each others cars and he has owned big power rwds before i guess its just we were on the wrong road at the wrong time. I was ahead in his pulsar and went up the hill around 50 ish (national speed limit road) and completly left him so he must have been doing 40 ish (and he say he was doing between 30-40 mph)
Ill get some pics in a minute but to me it really doesnt look that bad as i saw it happen in rear view mirror, the down side is i dont now anyone like that that would help me out with the car and i cant see any garages sorting it out for £1500.
I am so gutted its unbelievable :( I had even booked the day off work as i was supposed to be at brands hatch in it today aswell :( :( :(

Dont think its a matter of speed you were doing, more to do with the amount of power you was trying to put down on the road. Oh well, its happened now and hopefully it can be put down to experience.

Ive just taken the pics and to be honest i cant even bare to look at it. I think its too far gone to be repaired as it had been in a front ender before i guess in japan and not repaired to well.

I think my only option is to put her on ebay and hope she goes for a decent amount. How much should i expect from her considering the engine is amazing, all interior is in great condition etc etc

Is there any serious structural damage? i.e that will need profferssional equipment to sort out?
If not i would guess you can buy everything you need to repair it for less than £1500. With the help of a few of us on here i am sure we could get it sorted.

Have a word with Laaeq (member) he's crashed his car twice - then sourced new car, transplanted engine etc. He should be able to give you contacts, prices etc.

I dont know if theres structural damage i would have thought so from the state of the car, I asked Jamie to come have a look for a second opinion.
Where would i get the parts ?
Im just in the middle of listing it on ebay but i really dont want to :(
If theres a tiny hope in hell of her being fixed ill get her done.
Is anyone on here avalible to come have a look at her today or tomorrow ?
Sam :(

Stop your listing, don't be too hasty
First things first is to get someone who knows what they are talking about to give thier opinion, so you know what you are looking at.
The parts should be easy to come by, you may have spray some of them but thats not too bigger issue.
I for one would be more than happy to come over on a weekend to help you wort it out.

That looks very fixable as long as the crash structures underneath the bumper atren't too badly damaged.

If no one on here can help give a few local bodyshop repairers a call and get them to come and have a look. Make out you will be getting it fixed properly and you will be getting several quotes, hopefully they will then tell you what needs to be fixed rather than giving you any BS.

Hi mate, ive got apple coachworks coming round sometime today for a quote. If its under £1500 then shell be fixed :D

you can def get this back on the road mate, especially as you have some cash to get you started.
Speak to freddy about replacement panels etc, he always seems to have them, I have a few 'under bonnet' bits you might need (suspension arms, wishbones, steering rack, oil cooler, etc etc) and ask anyone who has bought stuff from me, i'm too cheap for my own good!
People were bandying about with the £1500 figure to fix mine,
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a399/dandantrash/Smooshie.jpgthere's no way yours is worse than that!
Keep it positive and use the substantial resources on this forum and you'll be well away. (paying to be a full member in return wouldn't be too much to ask would it? :Giggle )

Make sure you get a list of what they are quoting for, rather than just a price.
Are they quoting just for labour of for parts also?
JapSam
27th January 2006, 01:54 PM
Both ill see what they say obvously it would be much cheaper me sorcing the parts myself etc but if they give me a quote under £1500 i will just do it that way to get her back on the road asap plus its not my money :)

Hey mate, Jamies just been and reckons she is fixable. We think she also need new suspension aswell.
I really dont know what to do, I would rather just pay the money drop her and collect her when shes finished. I just need to find somewhere willing to take it on.
Im going to pop down a body shop in Uxbridge tomorrow where jamie had one of his previous cars fixed and see if their willing to take it on and for a decent price.
Will keep everyone posted as im not letting this make me miss out on owning my dream car. SHE WILL BE BACK !
Thanks everyone
Sam :)

Getting someone else to do all the work is always low stress but the more you do yourself, the cheaper things are.
Well the parts are available if you want them anyway, give me a shout anytime. I have uprated damping adjustable suspension, £150 for the whole set of corners or £100 for the fronts.

Good luck with the fixing.

JapSam.
Soooo glad you havent given up. I have crashed a few times, and once I crashed a really mint RX-2 when I had just lovingly rebuilt the engine :-(( Dont give up, bud, these cars are so rewarding to own.
Chin up, get the spanner out, go and buy a book on bodywork, download the factory service manual, and get started.

hello
Just got back from sams. It is a mess but definatly fixable. Front end damge has pushed the inner wing structer in a bit and the front panel has been pushed back. Not to bad though. It was scary seeing the car in that way last time i saw it sam was driving of in it and it looked lovely.
At least no one was hurt and the car can be fixed. I hope to see the car back on the road and with a nice respray done on it.
I will help sam out to get him a list of what parts are needed.
See you all soon Jamie
