I thought that, a 15.3 is just not good. It must've been the shock of seeing the Corsa :)

Stock FD runs about 14.1 so not a good run but the Corsa still did 12.7 which is actually really really good so no embarrassment there :yes

Those C20LET's can be tuned really easily. Along with NoS, he could have had over 400bhp.

i dont think the 1.4 engine and 18inch wheels did me any favours speed-wise though. :)

Think thats the Corsa I raced when I went down to the pod. There was only 6 of us there. Thank goodness I beat him. The best he got with me was a 13.9 and I got a 13.4.... phewwwww!
I'll get pete to check the vid and tell me if it was the one or not.

It's nice that there are some people into the performance and tuning and not just going for looks like most of the crap in Max Power etc :) I don't know why they bother having an engine section on the stats sometimes ;)

Horses for courses really though isn't it, depends what you like, and for most young people (max power crew) a powerful engine isn't viable due to insurance.
I guess us Rex owners are lucky that we have looks and power!
My corsa (above) was gutless as hell but if could have afforded it I would have had a red top in there too!
I do like the street sleeper thing though, maybe not as tatty as that corsa, but this is my favourite right now http://www.fensport.co.uk/fensportcars.htm

Read something funny in J-tuner a couple of issues back. A kid wrote in n ask if 20" would fit on he's EVO 6?
Steve replied, we are J-tuner not Max Power. :D

to be fair the guy has only had the car 4 weeks. as i had the only other rex there he did ask if his times were slow, however since my times were barely quicker, didnt have an answer for him. 14.9 by the way. while i'm writing could i pick your brains.
have fd with apexi induction, de cat, racing beat exhaust, freshly re built engine with a little porting. (AUTO) all i got on the dyno last week was 192@the wheels. well pi*$ed off with that! going to re-worx in a couple of weeks for power fc + mapping. just wonder if theres a reason for it being under powered. feels lively to drive but the figures dont lie.

192 is a little low, but with those mods you NEED an ECU asap! In fact, i wouldn't drive it in fear of it going pop until you get that apexi fitted.

I had 2 of them, so much fun, if you still want one as a run about I know soemone who can help you find one.
I was going to get another one but they are £1500+ now. I paid £1000 for 2 4 years ago.

that was a slow run by the rex, i ran 13.8 in mine with sub amp and box with a standard engine just filters (and a blown coolant seal haha) my friend ran 13.5 in his standard FD.
i used to be in vauxhall circles before RX7s...my old car:

http://www.face2faces.co.uk/nova/valver/DSC00093lowres.jpg

http://www.face2faces.co.uk/nova/valver/engine.jpg
http://www.face2faces.co.uk/nova/valver/nitrous.jpg
2 litre 16v spax coilovers drilled grooved discs bla bla, nitrous oxide 150bhp shot air filter mongoose exhaust slightly hotter cams
I ran a 13.8 in it, street tires no lsd. and thats with a straight shot of 150, no progressiveness...had either 170bhp or if i floored it 240, no inbetween. So didnt have any traction either!
Weighing as much as a packet of crisps you cant beat it!
that corsa is hilarious it started life as a diesel, he just dropped an engine in it, nitroused it, turned the boost up, got an lsd and put track slicks on steelies and went up the pod.
believe hes pulling about 350 370 out of it. Quickest time to date for a fwd nova/corsa is 12 dead
people are still doing mad things to these cars because they are so cheap, you can but yourself a nova, a 2 litre engine and a set of cams for under 1000 now and have impreza beating performance! friend of mines got a 2 litre 16 v mid engined nova with a GT35R on it! Its totally mad...
example of an aquaintances current build:
http://forums.roybacer.net/index.php?showtopic=1797&st=0
13 pages mind, but its all worht it. gonna be a mad car. just flick through the pictures.
There is one legendary nova, its called pepe. purple - space framed rear, leda coilovers all around, group a componenets, fuel cell, CF door cars and dash, no interior, airbrushed design in the engine bay (the engine has a heart on on, and the rest of the bays painted like veins and stuff)
best bit - a VXr touring car engine with gearbox. 330bhp of naturally aspirated 10k rpm'd straight cut dog faced engagement screaming rocket powered biscuit tin :InLove

wow you gotta read the thread in bobfish's post above!
That's some serious amateur effort and determination!
Just goes to show you dont have to have £20,000 worth of motor to get some serious performance, there is some real knowledge in that thread.
