Have just received an invitation to view the RX-8 at my local
Mazda dealership next week. Looking forward to seeing the beast
in the flesh. Reading all the recent press coverage and studying
available photographs has prompted questions that I hope will be answered next week.
Fellow worshippers of the Rex with long memories will wonder if the Mazda dealer network will be able to cope with service and
maintenance of the rotary.
I would like to recommend the review in the September issue of EVO. Piching the Rx-8 against the Golf is a journalistic conceit, but
nevertheless the review is fair and with insight; and posssibly
nearer the mark than the July issue of AUTOCAR which pitches the RX-8 against the new Nissan 350z.
What do you think?

Welcome and Hello,
Bit strange about Autocar because from raving about the car for ages they now seem to try and rubbish it at almost any opportunity.
They now say for instance that it does not corner very well and yet an RX-8 will out corner an FD due to the stiffness of it's chassis !!!!.
To my mind the RX-8 / 350Z challenge is unfair as the 350Z is Nissan's next proper sports car where as the RX-8 is not a full blooded sports car indeed l feel due to the uniqueness of the car being a smallish full four seater ''sports''
car l seems a challenge in it's self to find a car that is truly it's competitor at all .
What do you all think.
p.s. Hope you enjoy your first look at the RX-8
All the best Clive

Dear Clive and Brian,
Thank you for your response-I concur totally with Clive's overview of the AUTOCAR "party line". The pairing of vehicles to compare and contrast is to a degree a necessary journalistic conceit; though we all know that the true measure of the RX-8 will be
provided by the many thousands of satisfied owners who we will encounter in the months and years to come.

Evo seem to like it a lot - in the most recent issue, in "The Knowledge" section, it is now listed as the best "small coupe", with the 350z as an honorable mention. They love its handling balance.

Dear Deathknell,
Thank you for the post. You may be interested to read the September Autocar- a full RX-8 road test, and some very intriguing
conclusions. This article is much more astute and considered than
Autocar's July edition which compared the RX-8 with the Nissan 350z.
