Ok, I know that this is very, very random, even for me. But cruising e-bay tonight as one does when ones social life is as exciting as a man living on a small rock off the west coast pf scotland is, I found this creation.
Now as most of you know I dont do the link thingy to important stuff as I am not good with computers. So the e-bay listing number is as follows.
4602926427
It is a honda civic that has had alot of work put into it abd looks like it could have some potential as a race car. In my mind I was only thinking drag car.
Anyway, sorry for another random thread. Just call me left field Mikey.
cheers all, michael.

Linky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4602926427&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%2Fsearch %2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D4602926427% 26fvi%3D1)
I keep a look out for a project for strip racing, that would be overkill for what i had in mind but its a good start for somebody.

Cheers for putting up the link for me. Sure it would be overkill but the price for overkill would be cheap. Something so small with 500hp would have to be fast.
cheers again Gman.

Your right the weight would be a big factor, if i still had my Infini FC engine i may have considered it.
I am looking for the worse car to run a quick 1/4 mile, i remember seeing a Ugo or somthing like that with a V8 in it, the crowds love it.

If you look at alot of vw drag racers it is surprising that alot of them only run 200 odd hp for 11s on the strip. YES, YES I know that the whole rear wheel drive and rear engine point. Although the important thing that they highlite for me is that a very well set up car doesnt have to have stupid amount of ponies to run good times. Only a good set up. Not too sure what a Ugo is but sounds kinda funky!:)
And yes your fc engine in something like this would have been insane.
Moral for the day....ditch the ice, ditch the leather interioe, ditch the irs (independant rear suspension) and have a drive line that you arnt afraid to let loose on at 8000rpm and good things will come.
cheers, michael.

damn it looks like a cross between a fiat 127 and a mk1 golf. And yes I can see why the crowd would go wild!!!!
Please dont missunderstand my precious post. I am not slagging off fd's etc, only if people are really interested in chasing quick quarter mile times then they got to shed the pounds or chase BIG hp that may not last too long.
cheers, michael.

As you said bob about dropping the frilly bits of a car will make it go faster but i am sure most people want their nice Japanese sports car to be comfortable aswell so i don't anyone will think your slagging off their cars.
I want a nice to look at, fast desirable car for the occasional track day and day to day driving and a cheap cr&pper to race down the strip and not worry if it goes boom. GO TEAM CR&PPER!

Yay team crapper. My sentiments exactly. I have often wodered why the majour car manafacturers do not offer their all singing and dancing sport cars/sedans with the amazing engines and drivelines, but in basic format. i.e. base model seating, no stereo, no pwer windows, no air con etc. Lets face it, it is most of the above that people like us, car nuts, modify first. The cars would be cheaper to produce and have a massive aftermarket following.
i used to have a 1sy gen series 3 rx7 that I totally loved. One of the best cars I have even owned. But as soon as you start to modify you loose what the car was originally like. Why bother trying to squeeze out and extra 40hp if your car is a big porker.
Ok for those that want their luxury sports car to simply be a bit faster but the whole point of this thread is that 'hey people, look what you might be able to do.'
My ideal car at the moment would be a lovely stock as a rock fd. Full nice stuff and everything. My ideal fun car would be a 2 door morris minor sedan that had bee sectioned about 3 inches,(original screen hight) but with a 13b turbo, 3 speed auto with something like a 5000rpm stally, trans brake, a 9 inch diff with 4.88:1 ratio. Oh and a coil over ladder bar rear end. Hopefully pushing out about 400hp at the wheels. Should be good for low 11s I reckon.
cheers all, and keep looking.
michael.

Renault 5 Le Car with a 13B, large turbo, RWD conversion, lowered about 70mm. This was the car i learnt to drive in.

WHAT. That sounds insane. You must have a photo somewhere of it. I have seen the size of those cars and it would be more of a handfull than my 13b turbo r100!!!!
Oh and i forgot to mention my ideal fun car would also run 10 inch rubber at the back. I just like the words...mini tubbed! :)

Yep I love those cars. All agressive stance and a whole stack of go to prove it. My girlfriend drives a new Clio and when we were in the dealership there was a new version with its v6 in the back of it. I think it was for sale at around £27,000. They just look great.
cheers, michael.
