I need to relocate the battery on the 323 to make room for future modifications and I was wondering what inline fuse people were using ? I don't like the idea of having a live cable sat in the car with no fusible link :2eek Also what size cable are people using.
Current plan is to run fibreglass sealed box in the boot -> a battery cutout switch up front and then on to an industrial type terminal block (as found in power stations and etc.) to make the connection in the engine bay.
Thanks ~ Mike

Whatever size is currently fitted as the main fuse is what should be used. IMO.

I was thinking of somthing slightly lower than the max cable rating. I don't think the 323 has a main fuse :)

I run the 4 gauge fuses they use with the standard stereo systems, quick to remove and very clean looking. Im running 2 x 60amp (2x4AWG cable) fuses because the main fuse is 125amp. Had no problems with it at all. Some people reconmend a breaker instead if you run a larger single cable, faster to react.

On cable thickness, 4AWG is good for 70amps over a reasonable distance.

Mike,
I went to halfords and bought a stereo wiring kit, which came with loads of cable, 0 gwg and 4 gwg, with all the crimps and pretty 2 different fuse boxes, fuses etc (250amp & 100 amp), it was 40 quid and had more than enough bits in it. It even came with multi splitter boxes so you can connect all the front positives in the engine bay. The wire was pretty too, metalic blue and silver.
