Hi
I am looking at buying an RX7 next year, in the mean time i want to build up as much knowledge as i can. On average and realistic terms does an RX7 cost to run? What should i look out for in one? also what version, i am looking at a Type R. Milage as well, should i look for one with the lowest milage as possible....any ideas?
Any ideas and help would be great.

Hello D3S! (wot's it stand for?)
I am assuming that you are talking about the 3rd generation RX-7? new shape?
Generally speaking the "turbo" rotary needs a reasonable amount of care. Some of the items I have listed below:
They need to be warmed up before racing the engine (a good 15mins), also need to be cooled down to allow the oil and oil through the turbo to cool it down (usually run it for around 5mins before switching it off - that is if you have been giving it a hard time).
They tend to be pretty heavy on fuel - but it is a sports car with Porsche beating power!
You will need to replace the oil and oil filter every 3000 miles.
If you get yourself a good one with Low Mileage, no modifications, well looked after you won't go too wrong.
The "turbo" rotary does tend to need a refresh around the 50-60,000 mile mark. Rebuilds can be anything from £1500-£3000 depending on what needs replacing etc.
Fantastic car to drive, suspension technology now 10 years old that still runs rings around most of the modern day sports cars.
Take one for a test drive and you will fall in love.
