How young is too young? I guess insurance is an issue... do you have any no-claims?

It's not a cheap car, I'm basically putting money away until it comes out!

Quick question for anyone reading this

Speaking of being "Too young"... does anyone know where somone too young to hold a driving licence can go to have a (supervised) go... legally I mean... I want to teach some basic driving skills to one of my younger relatives and am really drawing a blank on a location.

im 20 and i cant get insurance till im 21, ive got a quote for £1000 fully comp on a £9000 3rd gen, 9000 miles a year. i'll have 2 yrs no claims when im 21 i hope. Does anyone know a classic insurance company who would insure me for pre-classic insurance on a 3rd gen??? If you want to let your son drive legally you can go to any private ground, like a large industrial estate.

errrrr £1000, thats rather cheap .. I'm 21 and I pay £600 for 1.3 323 - tpft (2years NCB) as my daily driver and £450ish (0 years no claims but I get a discount as its a second car) - fully comp 3000 miles per year limited on my first gen

Mazdarotary club has some recommended insurance companies I think - have a look on the website and try them + I got a good deal from Adrian Flux and I personally have not had a problem with them so far (touch wood)

If you can afford a £9000 car when your 21 I'm sure a grand in insurance will be nothing to you anyway :D

im insured on my car now with adrian flux for £1400 thats the best quote i could get, and thats on a Cavalier sri 8v. Try Elephant.co.uk they give good quotes for 21+ although they vary sometimes with the price.

Yay... Wry smile!

Did you see that thing in the newspaper where a guy called the police and said "There's a guy in my garage stealing my tools" and they said that there was noone available... he waited 2 minutes, called them back and said "You know that guy in my garage, you don't need to hurry now because I've shot him"... Strangely enough they turned up in about 60 seconds.

nope didnt hear that one. did you hear the joke:

A man driving home from work was pulled for speeding, when the cop asked why he was speeding the man replied " im sorry i was nervous about the gun in my glovebox". The cop replied "thats illegal you know! Why have you got it?". The man replies "O, i shot my wife, shes in the boot", the copper decides this is too much for me so calls in his super intendant. The Super searches the car and finds no gun or body and asks the man "why did you say you had a gun and a dead body in the car?" The man replies "i never said such a thing!!!! I bet the :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: told you i was speeding too!!!!!! lol:D ;) :D

And which friend of humanity convinced you of that... there are 2 golden rules with a rotary engine... change the oil very regularly, and NEVER let it overheat....

There are plenty of people on the US forum who have run their 13B's past 300,000 miles without a rebuild using only that advice and standard servicing.... do you think this engine, will be any worse for 20 years of development?

Do you also not remember 20 years ago when 100,000 miles was a lot for a piston engine?

It's true that rotaries are sensative to proper maintainance, and it's ALSO true that the 3rd gen RX-7 had overheating problems as well as other turbo problems (It was the first production car to have sequential twin turbo's)... but if you believe one thing, believe this... Mazda are not going to have spent the last 5 years testing this engine for nothing, and they damn well don't intend to get burned again for reliability... I have it on good authority that these tests have shown the current engine to be rock solid.

In answer you Jason's post... which for some reason isn't in the thread... Most, if not all of the people with large mileage are NA cars, so the RX-8 being NA is pretty much drawing on the RX-7's which were reliable... not the ones that were not.

News from the Paris auto show :

The RX-8 shown is the same ever seen in the other auto show . Very nice in reality and the yellow sequined(spangled ?) paint is extremly beautiful !
But there was a new video with a red RX-8 doing some drift on a wet road !

And the RX-8 can be ordered right now ! Over twenty ordered in Paris at that day ! Huge success i think ...
29000€ for the 194 hp type
35000€ for the 240 hp type
delivery : june 2003

The Paris show website : www.mazdaparis2002.com

Here you can make your own RX-8 videocard !! :
