Well then I am facing a dilemma which may be familiar to some.
I have a D reg series 2 non-turbo which I have been using as my main car for about a year now. It is mechanically sound and makes me happy most if the time.
There have been a few problems along the way but I have kept on going when others have questioned my thinking.
It just failed the MOT because of a few spots on the chasis which have rusted through and I have to get it in for some welding anyway. ( I have been quoted £200 for this.)
Anyway I feel that the body lets her down a bit and I feel the time is right for either selling and moving up ( to another rx) or getting a respray.
How much should I expect to pay for a respray in it's original white? Apart from a few rust spots around the sun-roof and near the wheel arches it is pretty sound.
I have more or less decided to go ahead but I just don't want to get ripped off.

SELL IT , SELL IT , SELL IT , SELL it to ME ME ME ME

thats what you need to do !! - and as your not a million miles away it makes it even better !

( just out of interest does it have the flat spoiler at the back or the raised one ? )

Thanks

Stu

/* still thinks that you should sell it - but is not trying to sway your choice ! */

but a respray should cost you about £300 i would think - so that and the £200 welding - £500 in total - so the choice is yours really

i can only base the £300 figure on what the next door paid for his

but his was only £250 - OK - it was just a blow over - but it still covered the car ( and the wheels and the intercooler and most of the engine ! )

so how much can you expect to pay for a respray ( i have no idea obviously :D )

Not for now, I don't think.
Mine isn't the one on autotrader.
What are you hoping to spend?
Since mine had a rebuild 2000 miles ago it runs as sweet as anything.
I am going to bite the bullet and get some cans of spray paint.

there is one on trader for £595 but he says i can have it for £500

it had engine work done about 10,000 miles ago and has 83K on the clock

down side is , is that its a 86 model with no cruise and PAS

i still think 500 is a bit steep for it

my last one cost me 900 for an F reg in A1 condition , and i went to look at an 86 one about a month ago and got the bloke down to 150 - but it needed some touching up ( ooohh errr ! )

so im hoping to spend as little as possible , i should have never have sold mine in the first place ( and i sold it for £375 - some one slap me !! )
