Its looking likely I will be having a rebuild at some point in the near future. Seeing as im giong to be spending thousands getting her running again Ive been thinking that a few extra hundred quid here and there will be like a drop in the ocean. If it saves money to have it done when the engine is out and she has to be set up on the rollers etc anyway why not get it done at the same time.

My current mod list consists of (off the top of my head)

Trust front mount intercooler
Exeddy Clutch (fitted 300 miles ago at WGT)
Knightsports 4 Beat ECU
HKS induction kit
Apexi BOV
Cusco catch tank
Defi link meter system with digital readout
HKS turbo timer
WGT exhaust
WGT air seperator tank

I have already purchased a Power FC and commander to replace the Knightsports ECU.

So, what is worth doing at the same time? Ive been thinking:

Pip's Street Porting
Downpipe
Boost Controller (to help with running in etc)
New turbo timer (just because mine is old and crap looking!!)

Any thoughts on the above? Anything else that may be worth considering? While the engine is out anything worth doing with the Turbos?

Any advice would be great

Thanks guys

De-cat (to make the most of the downpipe, filters and ECU).

If it's not been replaced already get all the vaccuum hoses and bits replaced if the budget extends - will save hassle in the long run.

Air pump removed and a pulley kit, greddy, dragon, rmagic do them.
Also an electric waterpump, with a FMIC your water temps may go up a little so fitting a better pump will help it out.

Non sequencial (sp) turbos?

Bigger injectors/fuel rail?

Depends on your budget. Get a decent street port :D

:D yeah, I know what you mean!! I was ready to get shot of her as she was as I couldnt justify spending the money getting her up and running again. I had my heart set on a TVR Cerbera!! But then I got a bonus when I left my last job so figured I could spend that money on the RX and have a car that goes as well as the Cerbera and looks better for a fraction of the cost! So I pouring money into her. The only thing that is niggling me is the money I am not likely to get back, but as long as I keep the car for a couple of years it would have been worth it!

from your list, porting and the down pipe are the only things you would have to have done to save money..... the only other thing is a clutch which you have or a single turbo conversion which you havent mentioned. Things like injectors, boost controller and ecu etc, i doubt you would save much money as they would be done once the engine is put back in anyway. Porting is definate IMO as it is very good value bang for buck. Plus if you dont do it and then want it done in the future its a new rebuild.

If you gonna remove the air pump, you should know that you don't need to replace the pullies - you can just get a shorter belt.

Get a combined boost controller/turbo timer. What about going for a single turbo whilst your at it. ;)

It's rude not to get it ported whilst it's apart.
