Two questions:

firstly:
is the apexi PFC a stand alone unit (ECU replacement) or is it an inline unit that aulters the signals?

Secondly:
Is it esential to have a power fc to run a decated system? Reason I asked is because I was talking to a lad from Swansea who is running a HKS down pipe, decat & free flow back section, and he hasn't experianced any fuel cut, although he has limited the boost. pushing 310 bhp on a fresh rebuild, 2000ish miles (rotechnics I think rebuilt his engine?)

Coments please as im looking at decating & HKS'ing mine.
:cheers
Cheers,
Jono

Jono, yes the Apexi PFC is a replacement ECU. Remove the OE unit and plug this puppy in.

It is not essential to have one on a decated system, but it does resolve a lot of issues that arise from running said setup. You can adjust the fuel mixture; sort of control the boost and a couple of other useful bits.

No such thing as a silly question, the answer to the first part is yes its a full aftermarket ecu that plugs into your stock wiring. As regards mods before upgrading there seems to be some sort of consensus that you can get away with one or possibly two mods but after that your pushing your luck. But don't hold me to that one of the tuning guru's will no doubt give a more definite answer with your mods.

Seriously, i would like to know a proper answer to this.

I have just fitted twin Apexi's to mine. I have also an Apexi PFC with commander unit and a Trust downpipe left to fit. I will put the Apexi in when I go for a remap but will I do any harm if I put the Downpipe on now? The general thing everyone says is that it will underfuel and detonate?

Best to get the downpipe and all other mods done after fitting the PFC, but before mapping. Otherwise the mapping is useless.

Cheers Fish. Thats what I had planned to do. Was just thinking of saving the labout of fitting the downpipe before i went to WGT.

Kinda silly really. My mate has an MR2 with loads of stuff done to it - like thousands and it's fine - not that I would have one of course! :D
