Bit of a downer already :reallymad
Driving to work this morning and my clutch pedal decided that it liked the floor sooo much that it stuck to it, and the car was stuck in gear. I pulled in turned her off and lifted the clutch pedal back up with my foot, but the same thing happened a short while down the road. I've spoken to the guy I got it off and he said to change the clutch/brake fluid as he never got round to doing it. The car has an uprated clutch and gearbox (all fitted in japan) and I was wondereing if any one else has experienced this type of thing?
I've booked her in to get the fluid changed thursday so hopefully this will help, but if it doesn't I'm a bit stuck! :xconfused

sounds like your clutch fork has snapped, you need to pull the transmission and change it i think - any second opinions? its just im not sure pulling it back up would have helped the situation with a broken fork like it did you for

The clutch 'seems' to work fine once the pedal is pulled back up, the pedal kinda pop's back up when u put a bit of pressure on it. I have experienced it before in my CRX but that was because the clutch had gone completely and failed to work after the pedal was pulled back up from the floor

Its the clutch master cylinder leaking most likely. You can buy a seal kit from Mazda.

Sounds like you got hydraulic problems there mate. Check the clutch line, slave cylinder etc.

Sounds like a similar problem that I had. The flexable clutch hose split causing a lack of clutch pressure - the pedal went straight to the floor and didnt return. I was able pull the pedal back up again but only got one or two gear changes in before loosing pressure again.
Have a look at the back of the engine bay near the oil filter. There is a flexi hose that drops down onto the gear box - get someone to press the clutch pedal down and see if you can see any fluid coming out.

This is the same problem I have had but not to that degree.
It sounds like the seals have gone in the clutch master cyclinder , CMC. Chris checked mine on saturday. He went into the drivers footwell and inspected where the CMC is bolted through the bulkhead/fire wall from the engine and confirmed that fluid was leaking through into the cab. Seals going.
I asked about a seal kit.
His reply was honest, yes Mazda do one but when you work out the cost of the kit, stripping the CMC and replacing the kit back onto a 10+ year old part, it makes more safe sence to just replace it with a new one. Up to me.
I went for the new one and it's now on order, be with me later this week and a piece of P*** to fit and just bleed the slave of air.
My view was I put that car through it's paces and I drive it to the max, as I'm sure you all know, I don't want some new seals to fail on an old CMC and cause fluid loss and thereby no brakes ( as it's a one res system for brake and clutch fluid ). I always take things to the limit but I still risk assess the situation. In this case it's not worth the risk, so I'm putting a new unit on.
Chris confirmed that was his view when i gave him my views. I intend doing the ring etc next year and I would like to come home after it. :guinness

You should never loose your brakes because of a leaking clutch pipe etc, because the reseviour is designed so that the CMC line is vertically higher up than the brake lines going to the reseviour, hence it'll never drain enough to cause your brakes to loose fluid. Clever aye? ;)

Have you done one before? I'm interested to know how hard it really is, and any tips. I haven't yet looked to see how hard it is to get at the slave cylinder for bleeding..... I've got one on order as well, I'm hoping to take some time off before Christmas to fit it.....
