It's the FC 13B though. But I do agree it does need twins...

big singly turbo would be perfect, the car is very light so it shouldnt suffer from the lag too much

mm I think the big challenge is moving the steering rack/box.

Twins would be too much hassle as there isn't a lot of space. For the performance a big single would be better anyways.
I had the mag with the feature on the oz one and his biggest problem was going through (very expensive) Mazdaspeed MX-5 LSDs like they were going out of fashion! I think he blew 4 diffs and 6 gearboxes on 8 psi (or something similar) with a mildported 13B-T (FC) with a top mount intercooler.
Steering rack needs to be moved forward an inch and gearbox was a combination of S2 RX-7 and MX-5 (similar to S3 RX-7 but with longer input shaft).

That sounds like an interesting project.
i have a good friend who has a Veilside kitted mx5. Something like that under the bonnet would give it the go to match the show. Will mention it to them :)
