OK ! I will order some. :-))

If 9 is standard, I think you will find the 8 is a hotter plug, not cooler.

With Champion, the higher the number, the hotter the plug, with NGK, the higher the number the cooler the plug.

mm. we cant edit posts, and I have been thinking about what I posted.

I refer to a hotter plug as one thats runs hotter in the combustion chamber. So, to me, an 8 is a hotter plug, as it DRAWS AWAY less heat. I am not sure if , on Gary's site, it means that a 9 is a hotter plug because it draws away more heat ( and therefore "runs" cooler) ?

I want a plug less prone to fouling, as its winter and my car is mostly used in traffic, so I want the 8's.

Ive removed those comment from my site so as not to confuse people, 8's will be better when colder and wont foul as easy, higher number runs cooler so more prone to fouling if not highly tuned or racing. Saying that I run 11's in the yellow rx all year round with no probs, cant see the diff between 8 and 9 being that great

I thought mazda recommended 7's and 9's?

Anyway, that's what I have - got them from Re:worx. Really made a difference actually. Previously I ran 9's all round and had a few flooding moments. The current ones i have a brill: never flooded once, even though I have switched off very soon after starting a few times! :D

No Probs Gary, I think I have 2 x 9's at home, will just check tonight. Mazda recommend 9s for Trailing and 8s for Leading, so I want to try that. Will order later.

Hmm....I have 7's in leading at the moment. Am I losing out on anythig then?

No, you arent.

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264&highlight=spark+plug

Leading - BUR 6/7 EQ/EQP
Trailing - BUR 8/9 EQ/EQP

This is climate-specific - but bizarrely the uk handbook says 8s and 9s but JDM cars are fitted with 7s/9s?

On a standard car we either fit 7s and 9s or 9s all round, platinum in all cases i.e. EQP.

What problems do you have with plugs Martin? I've run all 9s, all 10s and all 11s in a couple of different cars of my own and never noticed it effect starting or crap build up tbh  Not that I'm saying it doesnt or mightn't cause problems of course...

That should read:

Leading - BUR 6/7/8 EQ/EQP
Trailing - BUR 8/9 EQ/EQP

To add to the above post ('cause i cant edit it which I personally find tedious) I did have a couple of flood incidents with cold plug when my silver car had a flashed jap ecu rather than programmable management thats mapped. But messedabout with ecu's is a different kettle of fish...
