Hi guys - where's the best place to get an affordable set of underdrive pulley's for my FD? I want to remove the air pump, so I can relocate my AST to that hole, so i need some underdrive pulleys. I was thinking about the US shops on ebay, as they seem very affordable there, but am always wary of ebay shops - 'specially US ones.

Same here mate, i would like a set also, i think that the vendour at the top Billetbitz is looking into making some, and i would be interested in getting some of them as the other ones that he makes looks very smart, although no time scales as yet. I know that greddy do them but in a horrible anodised blue(hope that there are some different colours) I was thinking that America was the only place....... but i have just had a brain wave (must sit down) Dragon sell em for £100 :p :yes

Havent fitted yet mate!
Need a few other bits and bobs first and got some 850cc injectors for the primaries(with modified rail, etc)
I'll fit it when this is done as it has to come out to get to everything else!
I'll keep you posted ;)

Any pre '95 car should be fine I think.
Pre '95 cars don't need cat and a friendly garage would pass emissions- Think even the emission figures are relaxed for cars of this age?
Anyway if your decating and removing air pump you should be running aftermarket management, such as an Apex'i. The map can be changed to pass an emission test!

Thats good then saves me £100 :)
Do people just get the pulley's for show then or is there a performance benefit also??

Clive- stand corrected :god
The pulleys under drive, so suck less power.
So should release a few ponies- not much I'd expect, but it all counts :p . Reckon higher BHP, ie single turbo conversions, etc would benefit more from this.

Depends on a few factors such as engine conditon, etc.
I'm running similar mods and have managed 322.9 at the wheels- see my ride in members section for details + power graph!
This however is reaching the limits of stock cooling(intercooler/rad) and fueling- indjector duty hits 100% in high revs

so next steps after this would be aftermarket intercooler and fuel pump and injectors, to be honest the engine prob isant in that great a condition has done 65,000 with no rebuild.
tr1cky
18th November 2005, 04:09 PM
You've got it! :)
Might be worth think about a rebuild before intercooler+injectors though.
More power equals more stress! Better(+cheaper) to rebuild a worn engine than a blown engine! Be worth porting while it out too!

was thinkig of going for a street port, have been to Ross at Dragon a few times and have lookedat his prives, about 3500 for full rebuild and street porting, wont beable to afford that for a while, anyone else anyone can recommend who can do a good job? i know people have there own tuners they go to, im from the south west of england so dont wanna travel to far
tr1cky

Ross is the nearest then- bit of a trek to anyone else.
Although might be worth finding the price of a rebuild from Tim at RXmotors- they price always seem reasonable and would be the next nearest to you.

You can get the belt from halfords but it's only 4 ribs instead of 5. I have had no problems with it in the 2 years it's been fitted.

I just looked at my paperwork and the belt length needed with stock pulley's and no airpump is 750mm.

I have a Dragon Underdrive Pulley kit, but also wish to remove the aircon. Does anybody know what size of belt I need as the supplied one is too big ??
DRAGON

Air-pump removal and Air-con removal are two different things.
All you need to remove the Air-con is a smaller belt, we have these in stock.
I would not recommend JUST going for a smaller belt if you remove the Air-pump, in fact I would refuse to do it to a customers car. You will get a very small amount of contact on the water pump pulley, and as water temp cooling is so important to your engine, its not something to take a risk on.

Could you tell me what else I would need to have done please ?
Unfortunately you are a: Too far for me to travel to and b: My rex is currently in bits being painted.
Many Thanks :cheers

You need the underdrive kit to remove the air-pump. And just a shorter belt to remove the Air-con.

Many Thanks.
As far as I know the air pump has been removed along with all of the Air-Con system. Will go have a word now with the mechanic and see what has exactly been done, then try and give you a bell for the belt.
Thanks again :Thumbs-up
