Strange Beep

Whenever I open the door on my car a low, but very annoying, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep appears. It stays on permanently if car is started but if you stop car and keep door shut it goes off after about 30 seconds.

Any ideas on what this could be, car is an import so last owner is bit far off to ask him about alarms etc, but as far as i can see no alarm is fitted......its just got a small keyfob type thing behind handbrake with "parkingGuard" written on it, and small button with push written on it.When pushed nothin happens so no idea whats going on!!

Any help or experience with this stuff appreciated

Does it only happen when your keys in the ignition ???


By the way didn't get round to posting the ashtray today , just found out I'm getting laid off at the end of the week so I've been a bit pre-occupied looking for work :(
