It may seem a real simple question to those who know, but what exactly is 1-DIN or 2-DIN ? And does this arrangement vary between Japanese cars and UK ones?

It is fairly simple :chat
1 din is the worldwide standard size for a car head unit to fit in.
2 din is simply twice as tall, and many Jap cars come with 2 din radios.
Most Jap cars seem to have a 2 din space.
Interestingly, many aftermarket gadgets eg. turbo timers, boost controllers, fan controllers etc etc are 1/4 din size so you can squeeze four of them into a 1 din slot.
I hope that makes sense. :chat

just the size I believe mate, 1 din is the 'normal' size radios we get in the uk, 2 din or double din is the big ones that generally come with the jap cars :) Loads of 2 din available in Japan, only have a few models over here :(
