Just bought an 84 Gsl. Badly in need of work. Runs fine but a bit of rust build up in some areas and definately some work needs doing electronically. Any suggestions on how to go about it?
Also rust on doors fenders and the carpets need doing. Any suggestions?
Is DIY advisable?

hi there.
rust is not really something you should do if you dont have any previous experience. to do a propper job any rot needs to be cut out compleatly and new metal welded in. rust scabs are easier but should be sand blasted to get all the little bits of rust out of the pitted areas. anything left behind will come straight back in no time. rust is car cancer, get it all out before it speads. carpets are easy. take the seats out and the centre console and you can see the carpet and were it tucks in. take any trim off that covers it and then remove the carpet.

I like to treat rust with a rust neutralizer such as Jenolite ... that will stop it coming back as it chemically converts the rust into somthing else

Thanx for info. Do you know any good suppliers. Im thinking of using carbon fibre for the door interior rather than opting to replace. Do you think this is a good idea? Also do you know any good all round suppliers for stuff?
BTW if u check ebay.co.uk right now (search "rx7 mk1") there is a guy tring to offload his 81. There is also a guy selling front bumper as well.
