I had one of these on my old Skyline. its usually located in the centre of the car under the centre console around where the handbrake is.
There are two little pots (adjusters) marked like little volume adjusters. You'll need a very small flst head screw driver to adjust them.
What these set is basically two concentric circles of where the sensor takes its readings from. Its hard to explain without a diagram, but I'll try.
If you look at a plan view of your car i.e. the roof, the sensor uses two circles to identify the warning zone and the activation zone. Usually the activation zone is set to just inside the windows and warning zone set so that its about 6 inches to a foot outside the windows.
you can adjust the two pots so that you can move the warning zone to inside the window and stop the kids from activating the alarm.
I think that Directed make the dual zone sensors and they have manuals on their web site which explain the process much better than I do.
Best of luck.
