Abel Ibarra's new RX-8 is meant to be making its debut at http://www.sevenstock.org/ in LA.

A bit "hush hush" apparently, but I got contacts! :)

If its anything like his RX7 that'll be one hell of a quick car !

Will he be running a 3 rotor still or will it be 2 rotor ?

This guy - Marcos Acosta (formerly MVA Motorsports) - trailers with Abel I think at times. He allegedly had a hand in the development of various bits and pieces on Abels FD when it was 3 rotor'd. 20B 'seems' to fit pretty well :)

Any one know how the RX8's motor and ancillaries weigh in compared to the FD's?

R.

Hi Rich,

The rotor's are much lighter for sure (as light as the ones they used in the 787B engine). I think the eccentric shaft is also lighter.

Stationary gears are meant to provide more power (along with the rotor gears on the rotors themselves) I'm not sure why - but I think it is down to the gearing itself.

I wouldn't have thought the rotor housings and end/intermediate plates are much different in weight?

There appears to be a stack of ancilary type stuff on the manual RENESIS engine due to it being 6 port (the second set of ports open up top end revs. etc.)

Ummm, interesting that they went back to 6 port...

They never stopped using the 6 port tech. They just stopped building N/A engines.
