Hello all, and firstly I would like to apologise for my first post being a question.

Well here it is,

I have been involved in various Japanese cars for about 10 years now ( last 3 were Skylines ) and I have come across the Cosmo and I am very interested in getting one for myself.

I have done lots of searching and have managed to find out lots of information, except one important thing.... Price ??

I am hoping to get a 1994 -95 car with the 20b engine but cannot find any sort of ball park as to what I will have to pay.

Can anyone offer some guidance please...:wave

Many thanks

Hi Nigel to be honest your probably better looking for a mint car from an earlier year if you go pre 1994 its pre catalitic converter as far as emmisions are concerned all that requires is under 3.5% hydrocarbons and a visual smoke check at tick over much easier at MOT time. The 94/95 cars are the last of the line and very rare in 20b form. Theres one on Ebay at the moment i believe the reserve is set at £5000 but thats only the 13b version. For about that amount you could get a mint one imported and put through the sva ready for you to drive away. It may take a while as mint ones dont come up for auction too often even in Japan. If you want to any more send me a email or pm.

Many thanks Kevin for the quick reply.

I have seen the one on E-bay and It does look good, but only the 13b, not too sure about that.

I am confedent I can bring a decent 20b in from Japan, and if I take your advice and go for an older one I wont have to worry about SVA and all that rubbish :D :D

I will keep researching, got so many questions I could write a book

Go 20b Nigel you get loads of torque low down and 300 or so hp from a detuned stock motor. Once the cats and air filter have gone the fun starts.

Thanks again,

So i am guessing that the 20b responds to tuning in much the same way as any turbo car, i.e. get it breathing better and up the boost a bit :D :D Just a bit though.

On a more practical point, how hard is it to insure these? as most insurance companies will never have heard of one? Age is no problem as I am on the right side of 40, so I am going to guess a future classic policy will be the best way to go.

And should I ask about fuel consumption??

Hey m8 ...

good to see you on here me old china plate ;) :D

AON classic will insure it ... they are insuring my Silvia which they hadn't heard of so im positive you'll be cool with a Cosmo ..

fuel consumption .. everyone says how bad the 13b is .. to be honest m8 i didn't think it was any worse than our skylines .. don't know how bad the 20b would be though ..
