Well, just been for a spin in a nice little Gen3 but there are a few things I'd like to sort out if I bought it. Anyone with idea of cost or who to see please let me know, cheers.
AC- needs regassing
Drivers chair- door side bolster worn. How much for a decent repair/ or if I'm really going for it, how much for replacement bolsters (all four for the two chairs) in red to match the exterior (I guess I'd have to do the same on the seat pads....)
Thanks in advance

The re-gassing should cost about £55.00 - however if it's a more serious fault you could be into hundreds. So I'b get a test done b4 you buy.

Depending what year the car is it may be on the old gas. If it is, then you can still get it done but it might be harder to find a place that supplies it.

Okay, a couple of things then........
The AC seemed to try when turned on, there was an audible hiss (like air escaping from an empty canister).
Southgate- a stones throw. I'm 10 minutes north of M25, J25.
What about the leather? anyone know of a good trimmer. The minimum it needs is restitching, the leather is scuffed not torn.
The other thing to note is that it is an auto, I've just been told that, due to the power of the engine, they don't last as long as the manuals, anyone have a tale to tell or is this another urban legend?
The filter looked new, the oil was kinda clean (dark but not thick or black). Car on 49k kms. Not sure about the belt. How much to change it? Better to be safe than sorry.
I'm also looking for a few rides, anyone near Bluewater on Tuesday evening? I'm seeing another Rex that night at 7. I've only been in one and would really like to gain a few more rides before committing the dosh. A beer on me for those who turn up.
Thanks for the replies so far, keep going!!! :D

Hi Andy, regards the Auto box not being able to handle the power not true. I have an auto and in the 3 years of ownership have had no problems with it, past autos I have owned needed constant topping up with trans fluid I have never had to top it up and fluid is still crystal clear. When you ask about belt replacement what are you refering too?. I know of a good trimmer but he is based in Southampton so probably to far for you to travel, have a look through the yellow pages for someone local a good trimmer will be able too show you a portfolio of past work photo's etc. HTH kind regards Leigh.

Thanks Leigh. Never thought about the yellow pages, D'oh!:o
And your reply re the auto box puts my mind to rest.
The belt, and this will show you how technical I am, was the nearest to me as I leant over the front, it went up and down quite a few times. :(
As it turns out, the guy who's selling will fix the AC before I buy, so that just leaves the the leather. Hmmm, could only be days away from being an owner........:D :D :D :D :D
Ahem, far from shirking all of you loverly peoples advice and buying the first one I have seen, I have another lined up so atleast I'll see two before parting with the hard earned.......

Andy
