Suppose I see an RX-7 in the paper. It looks good, it's got history and I've got the cash in my pocket. How do I know if it's gonna blow up on the way home. I can take it for a test drive and I can look under the bonnet and try to look clever but I wouldn't even know what to look (listen) for. I don't suppose your average RAC inspector can tell you if it's any good and even a good mechanic friend won't really be able to pick a good one if he's never owned a rotary. So is there anyone you can hire to come with you and check one over?

I'm looking for an early 3rd Gen Type-R import (cos it's got rear seats). It has to be bog standard (apart from alloys), and have low mileage (under 40,000) and I'm hoping to pay less than £9,000. It has to be Red, black, yellow or white and I'd rather get one from a dealer with a bit of warranty it case it does go bang. Am I being ridiculous or can I find one like that? How's your new one, is it a 3rd gen?

I've had a look at that first site and they do seem to know their stuff. They list all faults about the cars and touch up any chipped paint which is also nice. I saw a '93 Montego blue Type-R on there which looks pretty good but, according to sites I've seen the R1 and R2 were not available in blue. Can anyone tell me what colours Japanese Type-R's were available in?
