Ok, I'm going to get a new stereo/cd player thing for my FD. I have decided my budget is around £300 (Maybe up to £400 depending upon what there is around). Does anyone have any recommendations of what i can get, and from where?

I quite like the idea of a double DIN stereo, but it doesn't have to be!

I think the best unit for me in that price would have to be:

SONY CDX-NC9950 Car Radio

£362 Inc. VAT

The CDX-NC9950 is the must have for drivers who demand the best in sound quality and advanced functions.
The CD/R/RW player is MP3 comptible to guarantee you hours of uninterrupted listening pleasure.
Watch videos and import images to personnalise the display via the AV input.
The CDX-NC9950 is amongst the first Sony products to incorporate the DRIVE-S HX technology that offers a crystal clear sound reproduction with a rich ambience.
The exclusive NVX-HC1 provides the CDX-NC9950 with a DVD based navigation system covering 21 european countries.
You receive all the latest traffic information including automatic updates for every country where possible.
The system includes a vocal guide in English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Danish and Italian.
The TFT screen makes for easy reading and viewing.
The CDX-NC9950 is the ultimate in automotive technology.

It's from Pixmania.co.uk for that price. It's great for me as it's a economical and clean way of getting navigation into your rex - and I always need help navigating!!!

Would say see you at Rotorstock (if ur going?), but with my nav skills, I may never find it!
:rollin ;)

You should have a look at the new Nakamichi head units, they have 24 bit d/a converter and even makes crappy stock speakers sound excellent (hopefully you will already have some decent speakers). They look a little plain but thats on purpose, its not a epilepsy inducting flashy bright as lights going off, instead its nice and simple and goes with a black interior really well.

Its not just aesthetics it has probably the best wire harness i have come across yet on a headunit. i have had one for three years and it still looks like new and sounds amazing, it has had to have a service once. It has two aux. ports so you can leave a wire for you ipod/mp3 player, and a monitor.

I think the new range have mp3 capability, and they are around your budjet if you shop around.
