Damn, blast and other unprintable expletives:mad:

I was hoping nobody else would see it and I'd get a bargain:rolleyes:

Seriously tho it looks a belter - cant be many like that left.

Gagging for a rotorisation

Best of luck to any interested parties on here

I wish I had one !

You might have some competition on your hands Richard :D

Richard
10th May 2005, 04:59 PM
Hey Mike - the only way I'd get that is if nobody else bids on it, and I dont think theres much chance of that :(

I'd love to have it but I've got too many projects on the go as it is. :D

So, unfortunately, I think you can count me out guys, and as I say best of luck to those who are up for it

Rich;)

its fair game then :D cool.

Wonder if they would let me in the histeric road rally class with an rx323 :rollin I doubt it somehow :p

if the new RR rules come off as they were draughted out I could drop a 1.8 16v like I have in my fwd gti in it on an mx5 box. 140+ horses should make it shift.

A rotary would be nice though.

Flectron its rear wheel drive.

This was the top selling car in South Africa for many years, I will try and get some contacts going there.

What would you pay for one ? £500?

I used to have one of those. Went suprisingly fast and spun at the slightest corner. Are they collectable now ? How involved is a rotary conversion ?

Martiny
11th May 2005, 10:49 AM
Jeez, I dont think I can get one at a reasonable price!

Just had a look, and early 323s are expensive ( or going for their true value) ! I had a 323 1987 here in the UK, that I struggled to sell for £250.

In South Africa, an OLDER model is selling for £2000.00!!

Geez, if only I could get cars from here to there!!

the conversion to a rotary isnt that hard at all. These are great little cars and if my memory is still working after all these years of abuse I think that they have a factory 5 link rear set up that is very similar to the 1st gen 7's.
I am still banned from buying any more cars at the moment but as me chick is getting a horse soon I am sure she will relent:D
£400 to £500 wouldnt be too bad a price for this as it has mot etc.

MikeLMR
11th May 2005, 11:16 AM
shhhhhhhhhh

its dead hard really ... not the sort of project someone else would like to take on ... honest :D

you may have noticed my cheeky question on the ebay add now :) ... if you don't ask :p

mullins
11th May 2005, 03:26 PM
RX-3 diff conversions are dead easy (though might be hard to find an RX-3 diff in the UK). Just cut the mounts off the 323 one and weld onto the RX-3 one. Refit. The width is sweet. ;)

btw: who beat me in the RX-3 taillight auction? :D

Ha!! I didnt bid on the tail light but was tempted. Mind you didnt make too much sense to bid as I dont have the car to put it on:rollin
So is this going to turn into the ....go on, buy it Mike!, thread?
pressure is off Gord.

mind you if you were to possibly maybe think about selling something off first, cough, cough...like a 1000.

your sincerely. cheeky git.

I don't need encouraging ... its going to be a long wait till sunday !

Richard

Mike, if you'r lucky enough to get it, and you need a proper alloy sumpguard and steel strut brace (as supplied by Mazda Uk for the Challenge cars back in '78) then you know where to ask:rollin

As for rear axle, I ran a disc braked English on mine but it needed an inch spacer either side to get the 6 inch wheels central in the tub.

Best of luck

Rich;)

BTW 4AGE twink on TB's would fit nicely:D

MikeLMR

ace ... I'll be in touch if I get it

travellinbob
12th May 2005, 06:18 PM
Why not put an mx5 motor in it? if a rotor isnt acceptable to the powers that be?
Mind you it is looking so good that I am almost tempted to get it myself!
Well, all this turbo equiptment sitting around in my living room with nothing to put it into...?

just kidding.:D

MikeLMR
12th May 2005, 06:27 PM
period mods only if I was to use it for post histeric rallying tho'

I'm begining to dislike ebay now ... I'm not very patient when it comes to buying things. Especially if I've been looking for a while. This is just torture !

Could have fetched it on saturday too as my mate is rallying in Wales :(

Fingers crossed we will it at Rotorstock Mike!!!!

MikeLMR
13th May 2005, 06:24 PM
it depends how much it goes for. I have some larger photos and its been 'tarted up' for sale (obvious things like overspray on the tyres + the sills recently painted black) Its a little worrying to be honest ...

Fingers crossed eh

also if you look on the ebay photo of the registration doc it has an old style log book and not the new style one it should have.

MikeLMR

drive it around standard first off ... its solved my dilema of what to take to rotorstock (the rally 323 isn't very interesting to most folks)

I'm sititing out the changes that are being made to road rallying before I decide what to do ... I may even prep it as an enduro car and keep the 1300 lump. (got to be standard too :D)

jsut had a quote for insurance ... competition insurance is a bit steep so it'll be on a classic policy for now !

Is that standard as in "standard" Mike, or 'STANDARD' if you know what I mean.:rollin

thats evil Richard :rollin who will save Flectron this time :D

edit - booked the bus ticket to go fetch it now ... Thursday = 10 hours on a coach to go and fetch a car 2 years older than me ... the people at work think I am mad :D

I think they may be right.

MikeLMR
16th May 2005, 07:09 PM
oh and apparently its not a classic in insurance terms as its worth less than whatever they deem the minimum :reallymad going to ring them back tommorow.

What do you reckon the 'insurance value' should be ? They didn't tell me what the minimum value was
