well...
tried this yesterday....( pasenger side 93 fd)
took out the screws... 3 from around the edge, one from the middle of the door and one from in the handle slot...
would the door come off... would it hell.
it kind of moved... I manged to get the insert for the handle and locking mech out, and the door was kinf of hanging off but it wouldnt come off completely.
from what I could see there are two screws that sit roughly behind the handle... this seemed to be point that it was still attached... I tried pulling and lifting and sliding and begging, talking nicel;y and eventually swearing before putting it all back together again!!!
any one got any ideas as to what was keeping the door on....
also the drivers side... any hints tips or jiggery pokery?...
the reason I am doing this is because the car hifi place I spoke to said the whole door panel need to come off to get at the speaker cones, unlike the back which you can just pop off the cover.... I have replced the rear speakers with some nice pioneer 7 b 5's coz they were ripped, adn I wanted to check the front ones....
all help appreciated...

There is one small screw inside where the door opener is.
Its covered with a small plastic clip kind of thingy so use a screw driver to snap it upwards and under neath you will see a small screw. un do that screw, and the sorround around the door handle will become loose and should slide out, then lift the door card upwards with a carefull force.
cheers

Oh....just had good read of your post again mate sorry but i think you have taken that small srew off.
There is one big one behind the electric window switch. You will have to clip the switch out and see inside and there is big srew that holds the door shut bar in place..
i hope this will help..

I think you're gonna kick yourself! There is an approx 1" x 1" plastic clip on the curv of the door directly underneath the passenger door handle (the one that always breaks). Pop that out with a screw driver and you'll find a big screw. Unscrew it and problem solved!
There is a metal rod which protrudes from the metal door and that is what the screw connects to, holding the door on. The little plastic square is very difficult to see even though it seems so obvious once youve found it! :p
cheers :D

Don't forget that the two triangular plastic trim bits either corner of the window will need to come off too, this so you can lift the door card out of the ledge its on.
They each just pull off but, as I found out to my horror, are fragile :)

this is what i took off...
2 screws by the hinges
1 screw in the middle of the door below the handle
1 screw in the hadle ( short 1/2 inch screw)
1 screw at the end of the door
black triangle supports(?)
I have ahd all edges of the door off and it seems to be held on by sure japanese grit!!!
I even took the window switch out to see if there was other screws under that as that seems to be the area it is still attached to the car by...
dont want to move, even under sustained pressure and movement upwards downwards outwards and any direction I could before swearing alot and putting all the screws back in
I got the drivers door of in 5 mins...
passenger door is a complete sl4g
one thing I did find though.... dont know if anyone else found this but a 1Yen coin in the drivers side door panel.... it is staying in the car... darent move it incase it is a good luck charm....
car has been running lovley!!!
anyone else found anything slightly amusing in their cars when ripping them apart?...
still cant get the door off though

Both my door cards came off as in your approach above.
Can you not remove the rubber trim underneath, and pull the bottom out enough to see up into it with a torch? Final resort could be, if you can get your hand up underneath it, is unscrew the two screws holding the speaker mesh in at the top(use a stubby screwdriver), and push that out which should give you a bit more visibility/light perhaps. Depending upon how far you can reach you may be able to pop the wingmirror button out too, disconnect that and use a torch to look down into it from above for the offending screw.
Edit : doh, its passenger side, doesn't have a wingmirror controller there does it :)

I had exactly the same problem.
Drivers door off in 2mins.
Passenger door - removed screws from round the edge, on the curved panel, inside the door release, removed the triangular trim, and.... nothing. (didn't know about the leccy window switch).
So i tried and tried, getting evem more mad, until eventually i turned a fetching shade of green, grew to 5 times my size, ripped all my clothes and pulled the door card off in anger, breaking the little plastic retainer that holds the screw.
What a :censored::censored::censored:.
Now my door makes a nice rattling noise when you shut it.
Well, it will until i glue it back together this weekend...
Don't get angry - you break stuff!!!!
Also, i assume the comment about the rear speaker grilles coming off refers to cars with rear seats? The don;t seem to do that on my Rex wth the rear bins...
