I know this has been a topic of conversation in the past, but I am unable to find any definate info via the search facility...

What is the standard front door speaker size on an FD3S and the largest front door speaker size without modification of the speaker pod and allowing the window clearance of course?

I seem to remember that 5" x 7" are the rear quarter standard speaker size?

Also, does anyone know what the sealed black plastic 'box' is that is approx 2 inches in line with the front door speaker toward the front of the car? It looks like it would make a suitable tweeter encasing (though it wouldnt do much for the sound quality I guess).

Cheers :)

You can fit 13 cm speakers in the front door cards ok.... you just need to watch out for the speaker depth...my jl's were 2.5 " deeep just to give an idea....we needed 3/4" mdf to space them out.

I'm sure you are right with the 5x7 rears....but i havnt used them....just 2 great big 12" subs and the 13cm components in the front.

cheers,

Dan!!

I thought its time to put in a decent set of components in the fronts. Ive got JBL 5 x 7s in the rear at the moment, and had a single 10" Sub in the boot before. The rex is such a small space that the heavy bass drowned out alot of th music, so I was thinking of putting tweeters on the rear as well as the front to try and rebalance the sound stage. What do you recon?
