Has anyone used this service? Do they need a paint code or a sample?
My RX-2 has loads of primer all over it. While I am not ready to repaint the whole car properly, if I could paint over the primer patches with a close match, it would look a LOT better!

Hi Martin,
I cant comment on the Halfords service, but I have a couple of litres of old skool colours here.
What colour/paint code are you after?
This stuff's been on the shelf since at least 1982 so dont know what shape its in. but may be of some use to you

wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Unless you can find an assistant that is willing to help and get the colour books out. If its like when i painted my dash the guy just grunted and wanted to know what make and colour the car was.
If you want a chuckle and see if any of them even know what you're car is (as most don't even know what an mazda rx7 is) then yes.
(sorry, rant over !!!)

Unfortunately, its Orange! (You could have seen that in my signature! :D)
Theres not much choice around when buying an RX-2 these days :-(

Halfords would put it in an aerosol for me, wouldnt they? Rich, if I got the paint from you, I would have to hire a spray gun, though I can probably borrow one.
However, in the long term, the correct paint would be FANTASTIC, as I do plan to repaint the whole car properly one day, and its much easier to not change the colour.
Mind you , they made a beautiful pastel yellow, do you have that?
Rich, do you by any chance have ball joint? (part that goes between strut and ccontrol arm)

Don't bpther with Halfords - they make the paint ok from the colour code, but they charge £10 for 300ml in an aerosol. You'd be better off going to a proper autopaints supplier (someone like Autopaints International) and there are several on the web as well. They usually charge £10 for 400ml in an aerosol.
The good aerosols from autopaints places do spray well and have a decnet fan shape spray pattern which you can adjust from vertical to horizontal.
Hiring a small compressor and gun though is probably well worthwhile.
Remember though - your results will depend greatly on your preparation. For some top advice visit www.paintscratch.com

Appologies for not replying sooner Martin.
Unfortunately its bad news on both counts:(
The colours I have are either varying whites or brown:eek:, and the touchup's are also whites or blues.
As far the ball joint goes - your fellow RX2 owner OLSKOOLROTAR has wiped me out of my stock.
I'm making enquiries tomorrow and will let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Rich;)
