olskool, unfortunantly I cannot make rotorstock as it is a huge weekend for our buisness(is there a crying emotion thingy?)
Wish I could. I always promised myself one of the best things about living in the uk would be the motorsport events but have always thrown self into buisness first.
Cant wait to see photos of it doing mad crazy things though:D Your a very lucky man.

You got me fired up, now, I have been working on my '2. Would be great to get it to Brooklands. LOADS of rust around the frame where the Steering box, and the Cross Member go :-(.
Still, I have put one patch on, 2 or 3 to go. My welding is not that good, so I hope MOT man accepts my repair. Planning on working on it all day tomorrow and Monday.
Once the welding is done, its just a matter of replacing the ball joint rubbers, then the little plastic bush in the steering shaft near the steering wheel, then rear brake slave cylinder rubbers, and thats it.
(Apart from the wrong engine, but that'll come later)

< evil idea >how do you think and FD would go with a pinto in it?, 'cause I know that 13B would go reall well in the Rx2 < evil idea >:rollin
travellinbob
26th March 2005, 09:02 PM
Yes Mike, that was an evil idea:D
Oh and Martiny, if I had a pound for every plastic bush that I have or a friend has replaced in the steering column I would be a rich man:rolleyes: Well, maybe not rich, but could definately be better off.
MikeLMR
26th March 2005, 09:05 PM
it would only be temporary ... until Martin gets the 12a sorted
then that can go in the FD :rollin

27th March 2005, 08:23 PM
Ah if I had the budget, at aleast a Turbo II engine, but for now, the 12A is lying in wait.
I have been at it all day and have made good progress. A little more welding tomorrow, and the other bits.
I remember my previous RX-2 s suffered form that steering bush getting play in it.
Maybe its because there is no footrest, and the seats were not really for spirited driving, so we all landed up hanging on for dear life on the steering wheel in the turns!

Oldskoolrotar, are you coming to Brooklands, cause I will be peeved if I have done all this work an you dont show up!!
Also, would be great to be able to park together, so whoever gets ther first can "reserve" a spot for the other.
Mind you, I still have to pass the MOT ... holding thumbs for Saturday.....

Well she failed its MOT:( its not all doom and gloom though, hopefully anyway. I need new ball joints, steering bushes and a rear brake cylinder. Other than that its was fine.
I jumped under the car with the bloke and not a spot of rust in or under her which is a plus for me ;) .
So if anyone can help me with the above bits it would be greatly appreciated.
p.s its bloody loud and it goes like poo off a stick:cool

I will send you the part numbers tonight.
Can you be more a bit more specific on:
Which tie - rod ends are worn?
Do you need the Trailing arm bushes?

Mate I is loving that! It is such a nice car. I have seen some of those plenum chambers have their inlets cut off and re-welded onto the other side so that you dont have to route the pipework right across the engine bay. Of course of you are going for the front mount route then it is perfect.
Once again, top car. I might even be able to get to Edinburgh in July(I thimk ) to see you and it.
cheers, michael.

That's weird - the pipe usually comes out the bottom and goes straight to the turbo! It looks like a modified factory plenum? Does it say "turbo" on the top? I don't know why you'd want to send it round in a circle like that - espescially with that 90deg elbow.
Is there much lag? I'm sure you could get more performance in the future by changing to a more direct path like the factory setup! :)

Hey aotearotor, I have just spent the last hour trying to find a decent pick of an orange top hat and now that I have seen one(thanks by the way) I reckon it is different. I wonder if it is a slightly rarer factory 12a turbo out of something??
Would love to know.
By the way, what ya been up to, havnt seen you on here for a while?

Hi Bob,
Yeah I think you may be right there. It doesn't look much different to factory, but that valve thingie is in a different place too! I'm stumped!!
Beautiful RX-2 anyway :D

Hi Mick,
Well unfortunately it isnt mot'd yet, I was told by the bloke from the garage that it would be ready today, so I phoned at lunch time to be told that the rear drums are binding:confused: , so I jumped in the car (wifes) and drove down to speak to him he now say's tomorrow.
I am now starting to get a little f**ked off with this bloke he has had the car for a week now. I gave him all the parts as per his request for the mot etc and I'm not happy at all with his heal dragging.
As mentioned above he's saying tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath:reallymad . I've been nice and polite but if I get the run around tomorrow this little black duck will be a bit upset to say the least.
