My untidy engine bay (hey this IS a street car!) - good old 12A stage 2 twin dizzy. Not very wild but nice and reliable.

Very clean - that must be a re-spray!
I take it your car isn't in London with you?

Hey nice car! I guess you must miss it a fair bit. How long have you two been separated? Are you living in london permanantly now? I was in the workshop late last night thanking my lucky stars I lived in the country, even as the sleet was coming through the hole in the roof!:D
I especially like the racing beat air cleaner. Been along time since I saw one of those.

Yeah it was resprayed about 5 years ago but has only seen about a year of regular street use.
The car is currently in storage in NZ.;)

Yeah Bob I'm in London for at least another year. I've been separated for a year so far. I'm always torn between NZ and England as my Wifes family are all from Stoke yet mine are all from NZ.
The racing beat air cleaner is a bit of a blast from the past alright. I brought it off this guy from Wellington Mazda, and at the time it was all I could find to fit a 12A carb.:D
I lowered the car about another 2 inches and fitted race seats since that photo was taken.:bandit

Looking for a good early Rotor for my UK ride if anyone knows of any.

A guy I used to hang around about 8 years ago used to have a 13b on the floor of his workshop with a genuine 80's HKS 'carby box' for a turbo conversion and I always lusted after it. Period performance stuff is the mutz nutz.
As for an early rotor the only suggestion that comes to mind would be Carl Hayward. he has a nice selection of old skool stuff. Nice guy and easy to talk to.
I know how you feel about being torn between 2 countries too. Australia or Scotland seems to be my fate.:)
cheers, michael.

:) I have a love for the old technology as well! The guy that built my engine had all manner of old performance gear - eg. electronic ignition for a twin dizzy, carbie draw through turbo setups and a couple of massive polished SU's that he is saving for if he ever builds a PP!
The scary thing is some of the dudes you meet have this kinda gear stashed away in all sorts of weird places! A mate of mine in Dunedin has a whole lot of old Rotor stuff under his house including these insane looking bridgport/PP combi plates and housings!
And yes I am very jelous of the Carl collection! It's kinda strange how old Mazda's are quite rare here yet Carl has an amazing collection! Must be years of keeping his ear to the ground!:D

I think my biggest regret with old skool stuff is not buying a FACTORY 12a pp engine a guy had sitting on the floor of his garden shed for $200. Damn thing even had compression. Me, as always had no money:(
So have you seeb Carls collection on cars in the flesh? I was seriously tempted to buy the rx3 coupe he had for sale on here a while back but the arse fell out of our financial world and it taking forever to regain lost territory.
My best mate in oz also used to run a 12a twin dizzy bridgeport that flew. Must have been the smallest budget engine but was still going strong with its side draft dellorto 3 years after its birth.
hmmm, must go to work and try to think about pots...not cars...:rollin
