Can someone tell me what sort of power increase to expect from an exhaust, filter, chip, timer modification on a third generation RX7, as I am about to purchase one if I can get some decent horsepower.

Cheers, Nik

Nik,

Be very carefull about purchasing an FD that has lots of mods. on it.

Have a read through some of the Technical articles on the Forum. 350hp is about the most reliable HP you will get out of a well tuned FD with Twin Turbo's, with the following done to it...

It would need to have upgraded Fuel injectors, higher volume fuel pump, adjustable fuel regulator, and of course an aftermarket ECU (like an Apexi for example). Once those things are in place, then a larger exhaust, larger intercooler, and a tuning session on a dyno with a wide band lambda will get you that HP. Obviously then you have to hope that the engine is in good condition.

Once you have the above in place it would be an awesome car! there are one or two like this in the country that guys have done up (some are on this Forum).

Thanks for that, I did actualy mean I was going to buy a standard example and tune it myself (or a garage actualy), bit misleading the way I phrased it, sorry. Anyway, been out in a '95' model today and loved it, got a magazine off the dealer 'Japanese Performance'? which had an article in there on tuning RX7s, seems like RoTechniks are the guys to talk to, for about 3000 they can carry out all the work necessary to achieve about 350 bhp so long as the engine is in good order.

Thanks again, Nik :)
