i went to another mechanic today to find out if he can put a custom exhaust on my car..
finally the answer was yes to my surprise as no other bloody company near me can..
after talking for a while about what i want he says to me that he can get my car to be 900 bhp no problem..
???? hmmm ???? 900 bhp i asked.
yes .... 900 bhp..
he then took me to the back of the garage and low and behold was a 87 rx7 tucked away in a little shed.. wrapped up covered in plastic.. and the rest.. he brought a battery and started it..
didnt sound bad.. but not 900 bhp...
he brought the car to the rolling machine.. and tested it for bhp ... 30 min later. and it touched just about 900..
he claimed it would have been more if he started it a bit and the plugs etc needed changed.
ok it was close..
he said a company down south makes a rotar or something like that that is 8-10 rotors..
i dont know exactly what he means by this..
i saw it for my own eyes the reading..
anyone have a clue what this guy done..
if it works i am getting it for my car..
pps this mechanic races in classic car races etc and had a fantastic selection of cars from jags to our favourate rx7

i think yuo would have to find out the engine spec to determine if that was true.
i dont believe it, if you had a 900bhp rotary you would have it at every show, in mags n stuff, not just hidden in a wee shed. And it would be the most powerful in the UK and possibly the world. Im not an expert in rolling roads but they can do wierd things e.g
a 2.0 8v pug xsi, book figures 127bhp about 125 torque.
rolling road figures after adding an air filter 132bhp, 185 torque
i heard of a few where 1.2 16v corsas make more power that the 2.0 version of that engine, could you believe that?
don't believe everything you see

Very interesting?
Did it sound like a rotary? did it sound turbo charged?
900hp is something that only top Drag Racers in the world can actually achieve reliably.
Got a website and contact for this guy? I'd be interested to chat to him.
Either the dyno is extremely wrong, or it has a V8 in it, or it is a 3 -4 rotor engine with a turbo the same size as the engine.
Tell us more!

the car was strapped and chained down.. it is stripped out and is almost bare shell. but he told me that there is a rotor or something that instead of having 3 points has 10 or something.. i will go back soon anyway as he is fitting my exhaust..
i will drill him about everything.. and if i can take photos..
i dont really know what a rotary engine apart from mine sounds like but i do know what piston engines sound like and it defently wasnt a piston engine.. however i could be completley wrong.. he did say that it is a rotary engine.. and untill i look i cant be sure..
as far as it staying on the rollers.. bloody hell was it strapped down tight and it had 4 fans blowing on it in all directions for air or something..
must laugh here though... it got stuck on the rollars comming out..
that was funny he had to gun the car but it did finally did come out...
i thought it was going into a wall
anyway i will keep you guys updated asap.. i am going back to him on monday..

ok ok i have found the answer to my own question...
it was not a rotary engine in the rx7 ... it was a chevy big block... but it sure as heck did not sound like a piston engine.. it had a motor bike cry to it.. hmmm
anyway that is how he achieved it so easy. and he told me that there was a company who does a multi rota or something like that ... anyway sob.... now i am upset thinking that the highest i will ever be able to achieve in this car is about 7oo bph or so.
anyway ... i would be happy with around 300-350
well end of this forum i suppose..

Hi mate!
Me thought so :) Anyways - not to worry.
How about 1200hp from a rotary? see www.evil7.com - you can see the car running on an engine and chassis Dyno on the videos page:

Show it to your mate - he won't believe you if you tell him :)
