OKe,

can someone help me with the following.

I just landed my car from Japan and its having a weird idle. When I turn my car on it will go to 1500, after a blip my rpms fall to 1200 and then to 1000, no problem with that.

But when I put in in first and let it idle the RPMs will go up to 950-1000. ALso when coming to a stop my RPMs will go down to 1000 and go up and down to 900-1100 but when standing still a bit longer they go down to 750.

Can somebody tell me what is happening or how to fix it.

Car has 60000 miles 96000KM. Airfilters and exhaust. No such thing as an modded ecu.

Have done the 35 to 60mph test and done it in 4,0 sec.
The car is from 1993 and is an Type R.

Hi Rogier and welcome.

lf it is then ticking over evenly l would say there is nothing too bad , if lt had a gasket gone or air leak then normally the revs rise and fall a lot !!

When it is fully warm and running at 750rpm , undo the locknut and turn the vertical screw near the linkage on the throttle body to give you another 200rpm.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your quick answer,

you mean adjust the idle screw to set it on 950 rpm idle? Why should I do that, the cars is supposed to idle at 850.

What is the round valve located near the TB next to the linkage, it seems the linkage presses on that "valve" what does that do?

When cold, you car will go through an accelerated warmup routine. This is normal, don't panic!

Revs will jump to about 1500 revs, but may vary if you press clutch, put it in gear or press the throttle.

Gradually the revs will drop as the car warms up, but may still 'hunt' a bit as it tries to get itself settled.

thanks,

new about the warmup. Have just let my car idle for a minute or 10. at first it jumped to 1500, initial warm up. after that it stayed at 1200 or so. when it fully warmed up it went to 750. turning the AC on will let it go to 1000 and with the lights on it will go to 850. same with the radiator.

just found out that my silicone hose for the turbometer was britled that caused a higher rpm. until I capped it off.
