After looking on the net at few importers, Seymore Popes, Torque Imports, Bonsai Cars, and Linney.org I noticed that some suppliers had the same cars on their books.

Do you get ripped off when you put your deposit down and the car goes to a buyer from another import agency?

Also, Linney.org have some early RX-7s on their books with astonishingly low milages. When they convert the odometers from km's to miles do you think that the clocks get wound back often? Are there any safguards in place?

I know there are now safeguards in place to stop stolen vehicles arriving on these shores but my mate bought an FTO that was a cut & shut job, what is there around to prevent this from happening to me in the future?

Yep bought an N plate RX two years ago and was contacted by the police a month later and was told it was a K plate. Will never buy another car from any trader they want your money and when you have a problem later they don't care. Sorry to tar all traders with the same brush but you learn from bitter experience. Leigh.

Zammo, speak to either Miguel at New Era Imports of BNAEllis on here.

Both are trusted companys that can sort you out and RX-7 that will be free of any such problems.

Under no circumstances what so ever does linney.org ever undertake such practices...

The reason why so much of our stock has 'astonishingly low mileage's, is simply because I choose to only purchase this type.. where ever possible I try to bring only the best to the UK, even if it means a bidding war with domestic and Oceanic regions, rather than bring over vehicles to the UK that are ready for the scrap heap. Sure the japanese don't like high mileage cars and will let them go at a very reasonable price, also i will be able to save money on the 27% import taxes... i prefer to see people creaming their pants over one of our customers cars at a meet..

Though our networks of respected Japanese Dealerships, Tuners and auction houses all over Japan we view anything from 10-50 rx7's every day (depending on the day/location of auction), we on average have between 5-10 of those cars inspected by our own mechanics and also pay for the auction houses own reports, with the intention of buying as we get so many orders for rx's.

The auction houses in Japan are tightly controlled, with extremely strictly grading system. They simply will not risk their good name and on the back of a few bad apples. Full reports are made on each vehicle, we are told about all aspects of the car, including accident and service history, condition of body work , interior condition, exact mileage, condition of tires, engine, gear box literately everything. They really do put the British auctions to shame. We also walk away from far far more cars than we buy if we are not happy with the surveyors reports and our own inspections. If i could hook a comp07 up to a pc and r.e while at the auction then i would...

I usually pay over the odds for unique, low mileage cars..We show auction sheets, offer BIMTA mileage certs, de-registration docs to our customers...and believe me there are many safe guards in place in Japan to prevent clocked and stolen vehicles...Ask any other importer, if there is a clocked car out there in Japan we will know about it. I'm not saying they don't slip the net completely though. But if there is any doubt in my mind that other signs on a car are pointing towards mileage that doesn't sing true...i won't touch it.

We had a women who purchased an FTO from *** ****, had the cars for a week, decided something was not right..got a BIMTA mileage check done, only to find the mileage was way out after it had been in the UK.. She returned the car to that importer, after informing weights and measures and taking them to cort.. who made it onto the front page of bimta news letter...she came and viewed our FTO with 12K miles, to say she was a little nervous would be an understatment and purchased from us.

Unusually low mileages on our cars such as mazdaspeed 1999 rx-6,125. Supra 12,250 miles, 1992 veilside silver rx-42K miles, FTO, Celica and others have all come back as genuine....don't forget the residence of Japan do not tend to travel as much as ourselves....In extreme cases some do not leave their surounding area or even their houses....

All conversions are carried out by our very respectable, reputable SVA centre..

I love selling cars, i love FD's, i enjoy keeping in contact with most of our customers (and do keep bugging them to join the groups)....We had some early teething problems, i inacurately described a mazdaspeed kit as veilside, sorry if this offended anyone...most the time auction sheets do not name all parts (my Japanese is getting better), alot of importers don't bother naming them at all...I can only do my best, and will continue to bring the best FD's to the UK (model report permitting)

The reason why an evo 7 or rx appears on the same dealers stock, is because we are trying to do a supplier a favour and sell it...seriously no conspiracy

Rotorboy, maybe the trader decided to register your rx as newer than was stated on the de-registration document.

Cheers

Ben, I understand what you are saying regards buying quality and I have viewed your web site on many occassions and yes the RX's you have look very nice. But I did say I did not want to tar all traders with the same brush. I have owned many cars over the years mainly BMW's from 635 csi to Alpina 3 series however if I buy a car from a trader in my experience they seem to be in love with you when you are parting with money and as soon as you are out of the door they do not want to know you again, unless you want to buy another car from them. The car I purchased was from a dodgy dealer for want of a better description and yes the experience has left a bitter taste, I would probably come round to the idea of purchasing a car from the trade one day but only after close inspection from an expert on that particular car. I also understand that some dealers are enthusiast's which can only be a good thing for buyers, I was simply expressing my opinion on a subject that is very emotive too myself. Thanks Leigh.

Thats all cool Leigh mate..

Inspections from AA/RAC/Greenflag are good for piece of mind..but to be honest they are very expensive and from what i have seen, know little about certain Japan makes...best to ask a current owner of same cars your going for, to come along for viewing...
