I was always going to get a Power FC, but after a brief chat with my tuner at Japfest an F Con V was suggested instead.

I dont know anything about these however. Is anyone using one, and which one would people rather go for given the option.

Cheers

Hi lee,

The hks fcon is well regarded in Japan and probably is better than the apexi power fc, the only thing is though a few people over here can tune the power fc, but can't say the same for the fcon.

Cheers Brain,

Ill go into Abbey next week and have a chat to them about it. Max was kind enough to show my his power FC set up earlier though and I now love data logit.

Id probably kil my engine playing with it though, but what a toy :p

I think from memory that HKS will not release the software to you even after you have the product installed on your car. Which means that you have to pay one of their superdealers to remap after any change to your car.

F-Con is getting some good results looking abroad.

The Apexi is good, but basic! If you wanted to start running higher boost, you will need the additional boost controller kit, or make your own with a 3 BAR map sensor and a boost controller.

Plus YOU can tune the Apexi!

I already have additional boost controler so thats not an issue! Tuning it myself. hmmm :bandit dangerous!

Lee, been down this route myself. I found the best way to do it, is change one bit at a time, if that doesnt work change it back.

But be warned one some things with rotarys cant even take one mistake.

I assume you have an apexi then Dan?

Im tempted to get this as everyone else seems to use them. I really dont know if Abbey recomend an F Con as they have done all my stuff for a few years now. It might just come down to cost.

Lee, I dont have any ECU on the 7 other than standard at the moment. I have on my Impreza a Link ECU, but I have also had a Motec M48 Pro. This is where most of my tuning knowledge comes in, but my knowledge is VERY limited, so not even I am sure if I want to try and map the 7. ;)

Abbey are a great bunch of guys, I have used them before and know many other people that still use them. Cant speak highly enough, unlike most tuners out there, if they are not sure they say that they are not sure! Cant beat that.

hi there im using an fcon v on my 3rd gen 7 with a gcc manual controller and so far its great apart from trying to set it up myself ive managed to set up the lower range but the higher is somewhat of a problem the only way is on aq rolling road but with the gcc anyone can do it the hks fcon v without gcc is only mappable through a hks dealer as only they have the dongle key required but saying that when set up properley there was a guy called gary who had the highest bhp producing ? (ha ha) cant remember what car! in 5the uk but anyway spoke to him and he liked it but unfortunatly he doesnt have the dongle key anymore the only people i know are TDI and they charge around 78-80 per hour.

Hi Sacha,

Did you find out anything further on the GCC controller? as I mentioned to you at the pub meet I have never seen one of these before.

It appears as thought this is a unit that sits along side the FCONV, and allows you to tune. Therefore you may not need someone to tune the FCONV for you - as you use the GCC to do the mapping.

Some info here: http://www.g-force-motorsport.co.uk/HKS/hks_F-CON.htm

Again - you really need to put in on some rollers and use a proper Wide Band Lambda sensor to tune.

It was Geff by the way at www.reworx.co.uk who should be able to do the tuning for you.

I Know This A Very Old Post But My Car Has The F Con & Manual Gcc. I Was Wondering How Sachabarac Had Found It With Regard To Tuning & Especially As I Want To Change The Car To English Pump Fuel Rather Than Using Octane Booster As I Am At Present. Does Anyone Know The Procedure For This? And How Would Having The Gcc Affect What Needs To Be Done (would It Make It Easier, Harder Or No Difference?).

The Gcc Is Supposed To Make Any Changes Easier But That Only Applies To People Who Know How To Use It (i'm Scared To Touch It!). Where Can I Find Out How To Use It Properly?

Thanks For Any Help.
